    Graphene or Ceramic Coating?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys,
Having a hard time deciding between graphene or ceramic coating. My detailer has given me the option of either ArtdeShine graphene or Ceramic Pro. My previous car was ceramic coated and I thought it was really great. I have tried researching the subject but most of the information is confounding. Let me know if you guys have any information or opinions on the two.

Shouldn’t your detailer know which one is better?

I’ve got graphene on mine and it’s great. Guy who did it said he switched from ceramic to exclusively using graphene because it’s stronger and seems to have better lasting effects.

Or something. It’s stupidly easy to wash and shines like no other.

He mentioned all the hardness, hydrophobic, and heat deflection properties. I was just curious as to what other people have experienced

I’ll start with I detail cars as a second job and have done work with ceramic coatings. That said from what I have read and what other detailers I work with in my area have experienced is that the current graphene coatings are more of a gimmick. For the most part they contain ceramic coating and add in a small amount of graphene. You get very minor benefit from the graphene oxide. Using a topper over the ceramic which most shops do now anyway have similar affects. As graphene progress in the automotive space you will see more pure graphene coating which will be a game changer. I haven’t specifically worked with artdeshine, so can’t speak to their graphene levels and durability other than their site shows hydrophobic properties are only 2 years on the pro coating. I can say ceramic pro has been around for a long time and has evolved to be a really good coating. Graphene in the automotive space is just too new for me to recommend to customer as of yet, but I see it’s potential. If you like being on the cutting edge try it and let us know how you like it. The more first hand info we get the better. I know my first ceramic coating sucked compared to the latest ones; like a fine wine these things get better with time.

This is kind of what I have gathered from the research I've done. I'll likely go with ceramic pro and possibly a graphene detail spray for maintenance when I wash the car

I have seen and heard that’s the best way to use graphene for now. That will be my next test when I settle on a brand I like. Right now I’m still sticking to P&S bead maker, have a few test vehicles that live outside and super impressed how well just a sealed vehicle holds up vs my ceramic coated plus bead maker.

    This is what I recommend:

    1. Full surface prep & PPF
    2. Ceramic coating
    3. List car for sale 6 months later

I couldn't help but laugh. I am sure the 2nd owners appreciate the paint protection.

    Stick with ceramic

Jury is still out on graphene and how it’s being implemented
