Does anyone have experience with the built in toll module and Sunpass? Can it be synced with an existing account to avoid the windshield sticker?

Bestpass is the tolling contractor. I'd check with them. Bestpass.com

I did some looking around. I believe that itm (integrated toll module) is what Audi uses. A product of GENTEX inc. They use a system called Payviam. I would check out Payviam and see what they say about their services. But I don't think you get all the perks that you get with sunpass.

Cool feature, but you have to pay for it. I'll just stick my transponder in the window... Not worth it in my opinion, unless you're in one of those states where they have they have different toll authorities and you end up with the top of your windshield covered in transponders. Here in FL, one does everything. Hell, you don't even really need the transponder in FL as they will bill you with the "toll by plate" if you have your tag sync'd with the transponder in your account.

I take it that Audi charges for this service in addition to Sunpass. Do you recall how much?

Also, without the transponder do you get the lower Sunpass rate when using toll by plate, assuming it’s linked how you mention?

I'm in FL as well. Anyone try putting the sunpass sticker on the sunroof? May be a good compromise as I never liked the sticker on my windshield, but it seems the ITM may be a pain to get set up/not worth it for just sunpass.

Audi doesn't charge for it. Payviam is the one that charges for the one stop charge service. $20 annual nationwide or $10 annual single zone. Check out their website for all the info on billing and how they bill (somewhat informative). If you're only going to be in one zone, Id say forget the ITM and just stick with your transponder.

There was a discussion about pros/cons of the ITM somewhere in the Q7 thread...I'll see if I can find it.

One thing many people found was that, because of the way the company set the billing up, you weren't considered a "local" in NY State (even if you were) and thus got charged the higher prices on all the tolls. I'm not sure what it's like in other states, but in NY that could mean paying $5 more for the toll (at a major bridge or tunnel, for example) as a "out of state" driver. Maybe they've fixed this issue...if not, no dice.

Thank you all for the info, I appreciate it.

Having the windshield tinted for heat and am trying not to stick anything to it.

I was going to use it but I think I would loose the 50% off tolls here in Illinois for not using their "ipass".

Pretty sure you can still buy the suction cup version transponder and put behind the rear view mirror so you won’t see it constantly.

My salesman told me it was $5 or $10 per month. I have no idea if that's accurate or not. The other poster in here seems to have looked into it and it's much less expensive than what I was quoted. I never did put any research into the concept.

I do not believe there is any extra charge for toll by plate if you have the plate associated with a transponder.

Just use the small window suction unit. It's relatively tiny compared to the old transponders, but it is at least portable whereas the sticker is not.

Yeah, my salesman told me it was a 3rd party, but said it was $5 or $10 a month. This is more pallatable.

I just had my windshield done and ended up having it removed. The optics were a little weird (they think it was a bad piece of film), but the dash reflection was awful. It's already pretty bad in my car without the film, but really amplified it with the film. I had it removed and put a 5% stripe on the top. Much happier. I'm not opposed to windshield film, as I have two other cars that have it. However, between the optics (not a good example due to the defect) and more importantly the dash reflection, it was a non-starter for me.

That's what I have. The small transponder is pretty reasonable, isn't permanent like the sticker, and can be moved between vehicles if you end up in a loaner, etc.

I have the small suction cup transponder in another car, and still find that a little bigger than what I would like to leave stuck to my windshield (and it does fall down every so often). Also have that one to move to rental cars, etc, so don't need another for that reason.

I think I have a new sticker laying around, so I'm just going to try sticking that to the sunroof and see if it works. Is using the transponder still cheaper vs just registering your plate with sunpass? Wondering if anything is needed at all anymore.

Windshield film is hard to get right. Very dependent on type of film used and proper install.

Here are the two websites that deal with the Audi ITM.

This one you use to register your module for use: https://itmsignup.com/

This one is used to select which type of service you want (nationwide or zone): https://www.payviam.com/p/1

If you are interested. Id suggest going to their FAQ's and research, research, research.

Good info, thanks. Probably very handy if you travel a lot and go between various states. I rarely leave Florida in my car, so I'll just stick with my mini transponder issued by the state.

Reviving an old thread. I’m interested to learn any “real-world” experience with Payviam. I’ve been to their web site, read the FAQ. They are a bit vague about which states offer the electronic toll discount, and which states classify a driver as out-of-state even if you’re a resident of that state (thereby subjecting you to higher tolls).

I live in PA and routinely travel to neighboring states and also to SC (passing through NC, VA) and sometimes GA. Maybe FL. I’ll be heading to Indiana and Massachusetts for “one-off’ trips.

If I went with Payviam I’d probably do the nationwide for $20 so I don’t need to worry about what’s in the region, or changing the region if I’m driving out of my area network. I occasionally travel on “business” where tolls are reimbursed and I need to submit a receipt (usually expenses are completed/submitted) within a week. Payviam sends statements and of course I can look on their web site in my account, just like I do with EZPass.

I’m curious to know if anyone has had a dispute with Payviam and how they were to deal with and resolve the issue. I’ve had disputes in the past with EZPass where I’m charged for a toll I didn’t incur, and they’ve been difficult. But it’s a rare occurrence.

    Any info is appreciated.
