Has anyone tried this thing? How does it compare to 034 upper and lower insert combo? Will poly reduce NVH or be about the same as aluminum?

Ive read the poly added more NVH compared to the inserts.

FWIW, the inserts like practically zero NVH and make a substantial difference on feel. Cant go wrong.

Yeah, not in my experience. Upper and lower 034 combo adds a significant amount of vibration from DSG on take off or creep and a bunch of vibration in the mid rpm range on acceleration. Looking for a compromise, not sure there is one.

Just curious, when you did the install did you loosely install them and let the engine idle to settle the mounts?

I don't have these mounts on my S3 but on my past A4 and Allroad I've always installed everything loosely and then idled the engine before torquing everything down and I think it's good practice.

I have been considering the entire 034 dogbone setup but deff not looking to add NVH.

Also if you wouldn't mind clarifying - are you talking about the upper and lower "pucks" as 034 refers to them? Or just the inserts and dogbone mount?

I know NVH is quite subjective, but when considering that some mount upgrades literally shake and rattle the car, vibrate the rear view mirrors to the point that they become useless, etc. I would say that the ever so slight increase in NVH from the inserts is close to nonexistent.

IMO its basically zero NVH. If a random stranger took a ride in the car they wouldn't experience anything abnormal.

Another thing to consider - the point of the mod is to tighten up the drivetrain. The goal is to firm things ups.. there will be some NVH added.

No, just the inserts. I installed following 034 instructions which did not say to run the car before the install. The car was level when installed, but i did not run it before torqued to spec.

I have stock Dogbone and 034 upper and lower inserts. It does a good job of tightening up the drivetrain and most importantly almost completely removed wheel hop for me. The NVH was annoying, however. If someone not familiar with my car drove it, they’d definitely feel it on take off or while creeping in traffic or while parking. On hard acceleration you’d also feel it in lower to mid range rpms. AC makes it worse and in FL AC stays on 95% of the time.

Most of the NVH came from the upper insert. Just to experiment, I tried upper without lower for a quick drive to see if it made a difference and it helped some, about 25% reduction. Removing upper and just running lower insert reduced NVH by about 75%. So that’s what I have now, but I’m looking for alternatives or possibility of adding aftermarket Dogbone to see if it will help. Running lower insert by itself is not a good idea long term, certainty not with the stock Dogbone. This ECS mount looks to be an alternative combo insert to 034 upper & lower combo.

I'll have to check out the ECS setup, their poly mounts are usually pretty decent.

I had some poly drivetrain mounts of there's on my Allroad and it felt like a nice improvement without any extra NVH.

Bump... has any tried this yet?

ECS is constantly out of stock on these, so people are buying them.
