Question Steering angle calibration not working

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After a few months of having no speedo because my ABS module failed, I finally got around to replacing it, matching the part #0 265 950 012. Now after recoding the module and taking it for a test drive, I still cannot get the steering angle calibration to work. I've done the following procedure with no luck:
    [Meas. Blocks - 08]
Group 005 Field 1 (Steering Angle Sensor -G85-)
    Specification: 0.0 °
    Tolerance (when straight): ±5.0 °
    [Done, Go Back]
    [Login - 11]
    Enter 40168
    [Do It!]
    [Basic Settings - 04]
    Group 001
    [Go!]
    [Done, Go Back]
    [Fault Codes - 02]
All fault codes should have disappeared.
    [Done, Go Back]

I've driven the car around as I read that could solve it, nothing yet. Also, my steering angle is stuck at -2.5°, which ross tech says: "Some of the Bosch 5.7 modules will not show live Steering Angle Sensor (G85) readings after the Login and Coding are performed. If this is the case -2.5 ° may be stuck in Measuring Block 005 and will not change when the wheel is turned. Make the wheels as straight as possible and continue with the Steering Angle Sensor (G85) Calibration."

Any help is appreciated, I know my steering angle sensor is good, as it was working fine before the module replacement.

How do you know that the sensor or calibration is not working?? IIRC there are more steps to this. The car needs to be driven in a straight line at a certain speed iirc.

I seem to recall some part of the procedure where you turn the steering wheel right then left...

I think the shitty Bosche units are only in the 2002-2003.5

    Try this:

    Update: FIXED!

Every time i tried recoding the module, it would never save my coding, and the module kept saying "No response from controller" when closing the controller after recoding. I decided to try and change my WSC (workshop code), from 03325, to 12345, and for some reason, it started reading steering angle again. Took it for another drive, traction light went off, then the ABS light when off, and all seems to be working fine now. Not sure how the WSC would cause something like this to happen, but I'm not mad about it lol.

I agree, that's kinda weird. But I admit I don't fully understand how that stuff works.

Only thing I can add is that when I've re-programmed a couple ABS modules, the whole thing with turning the steering wheel with the engine off to re-calibrate the steering angle didn't really seem to do anything. I think I re-programmed one or two without even bothering to do that step and it didn't seem to matter. <shrugs>

I have seen WSC affect different functions in certian control modules. Most of the time modules just needs to see a different WSC.
