Occasional static noise from the speakers?

Anyone else with B&O have heard the same? I am noticing occasional and random static noise from the music (Spotify, FM, XM) that I am listening to and cannot rule out why.

The static noise is so random that I have no way of duplicating it. Throughout the whole song it may happen once, or never at at, or multiple times. And the music doesn't have to be loud. The louder the music, the louder the static noise gets, I think.

The static/popping noise is very faint so if you don't pay attention you probably won't hear it. And it sounds like tiny little debris hitting the windshield.

    Anyone?

So I just have the standard B&O but i hear a popping noise every time (for the most part) that i put my car in reverse and the camera is activated. Is this the same sound you are referring too?

The noise I am hearing is more of a faint ticking noise/static that happens very randomly. Maybe some sort of electrical interference somewhere. I don't remember hearing anything when putting the car in reverse but I will try that when I get off work today.

I do hear the same noise as the OP in my SQ7. Don't know what to do with it, because it is very hard to demonstrate in the service center.

U know I occasionally hear this and thought it was me. Its so subtle but I dont notice it unless I really try hard to listen for it. Maybe there will be a TSB (service bulletin on it).

Yeah mine is pretty loud. Unfortunately these are the little things that we have to deal with, being a brand new model, Im sure it will get sorted. Does it piss anyone else off that they got rid of the rear floor mat posts? So annoying, my all weather mats never stay in place now. (First world problems I know)

Wow wonder why they removed them. It was an extremely useful little feature.

So I don't hear the popping noise at reverse, but the faint static/ticking is there. The noise is more pronounced especially when you are sitting at the stop light and the engine is shut down. But the thing is, it's so random so there is no way to duplicate it to the dealer.

Hopefully they come out with a software update to the MMI....

Yesterday I finally heard the popping noise when putting my car in reverse. For me it doesn't happen very often.

It's something to do with the switch between music and back up camera sound, noticed it yesterday on my wifes SQ7. So definitely new Audi tech issue.

I have the base audio. At least I think that’s what it is. I notice the static but it seems that it’s when I’m playing music or GPS through CarPlay over Wi-Fi. Today listening to the FM radio while using gps the radio was static free but when the gps announcement is playing there is static. I also notice that there is a short gap in the announcement. Sometimes very short like a skipped 1/4 beat. Sometimes a whole beat and it’s really noticeable. On the longer ones the static noise is louder. It seems for me to be related to car play.

So, today I drove for about an hour. Listening to FM and a classical music station (long sustained notes) and no GPS (I’m using a gps on the phone via car play) I didn’t hear one instance of the static and that short pause. Then I turned on GPS and there it was. I think it’s the cellphone downloading data that causes the crackle. Tomorrow I’ll power off the cellphone on my drive to work and see what effect that has.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I just got a new A6 Allroad and have the same issue with static and random popping noice. Did anybody ever figure out what was the issue?

    Thanks for reviving this one!

I have the same issue with an occasional click/static sound.

I can't duplicate it, as it can be with the radio on, with Spotify....
I swear its from the rear but... I wear hearing aids so I am not the best judge LOL. (I hear it with and without hearing aids too)
Never bothered to even search about it. but its annoying when it does happen.

I have this issue in my S7 too. The static sounds via the B&O system in the C8 is pervasive issue that Audi has stuck their head in the sand on the last few years (par for the course with Audi lately tbh). The brand has taken a nosedive in quality in recent years.

From my various forum browsing sessions while sitting on the toilet, I’ve yet to find anybody that found a true solution other one guy who I think ended up replacing every single component of the sound system on his own dime. Haven’t found an instance of a dealer fix yet… and tbh I’d be very weary of letting most of todays Audi dealer techs take my dash apart just to scuff up the leather, scratch the stupid piano black trim, and put it back together just to have it creak more than it already did from the factory
