    Rs6 cete module question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone with their car done the cete module yet? With everyone saying the 6s don’t lower at rest but at speed I was curious if the cete module was still a good option? I think the cete module has a setting for at speed as well but curious how it was working.

There’s an option called show mode if you decide to add that option when ordered that basically slams the car when parked

Sorry not asking that. I’m trying to determine if when you set a lowered amount for dynamic if the car lowers it further when in motion as it sounds like current owners stock are seeing it drop at speeds. It would suck to set it at say 20mm down and then the natural lowering of the stock systems takes over and lowers it further than you set.

I don't have an RS6 but have the 2020 Allroad with air suspension and the CETE module. Not sure if it's the same but I can't imagine it being different in regards to the settings. I have set my ride height in dynamic to my liking and my set CETE reduced height does not change unless I reprogram the CETE.

Did yours lower at speed stock?

I've been meaning to look into this, but yes the cete has the function of reverting to stock at a certain speed (don't know the exact speed). As long as this correlates with the speed at which the car lowers by default, they'll either cancel out and the car will stay level or the car will raise if the cete drop is more than what the stock lowered drop is.

What is the main purpose of the CETE module?

The car sits pretty low at rest and hunkers down a bit at speed. I really enjoy the ground clearance for daily driving as I encounter a lot of speed humps, parking stops, and steep angled driveways. It's nice not to have constant scraping every time you run into obstacles like those.

The purpose is lowering. IMHO with multiple selections for drive mode you have options. Leave Auto/comfort at stock height if you chose for those times your worried about ground clearance and set dynamic to lower. For me I am used to driving much lower cars so I know how to avoid speed bumps and parking stops.

So I had the Cete module on my 2016 S7. I remember there being a setting for that (deciding whether it should lower even more at speed). Im guessing what you are trying to avoid is being low and then at speeds it going even lower and ultimately too low at fast speeds. I would just check with whoever you are going to source it from. Im sure Jimminez@Nemesis knows the answer as he has already sourced them for forum members.

Thats exactly what im wondering. Id hate to have it all setup and then drop further and have issues. Now if that damn boat would just get here faster everythings pretty much landing at the end of dec...Wheels,tires,cete,wrap,tint, and the car ;) Debating now on ordering the tune from MTM and doing it at the same time...

Yeah You won't have an issue as the Cete unit, is pretty solid and very customizable through the app. I would drive your car stock (ECU) wise for a little bit until you tune it. I am itching for a tune but honestly $2,500 for a piggyback that has no app, customized maps or logging capabilities is kind of ridiculous imo. Not saying I'm not going to tune it but damnnn...

You are going to wrap your car, or are you PPF'ing it?

Full xpel stealth. Yeah its expensive but I want to be able to remove it for dealer trips. Havent found one that wants to work with a tuned one. Last Audi I tuned I went APR and bought a second ecu but that was expensive...

Navarra blue. And yeah we are so close you myself and sandjunkie will for sure need to meet up. My vossens are going to take about 8-9 weeks since I ordered another one of their transparent colors but my guy there told me should be no later than late dec which works out well since if it gets here before xmas it still has 2 weeks in the shop for the ppf.

How do you avoid a speed bump? Take a different street? :)

I have had and have lower cars. They're kind of a pain IMO. Even when you're careful. Especially steep driveways. Almost impossible to not scrape in lower cars without a front axle lift unless you can go really slow on an extreme angle to mitigate the nose clearance. Not to mention, the lower you go, you're typically compromising ride quality and handling as you run out of suspension travel. Maybe that's not an issue on an air ride? No idea... To each their own of course. For my taste, in a daily, I don't want to have to deal with ground clearance issues.

The CETE seems like a nice product though.

I'm looking into the piggy back as well.

Just curious, why would you need an app or data logging for a simple tune? Are you wanting to switch between fuels or something?

I've used APR in the past. It was great. Load the tune and go fast. Simple and easy. Just the way I like it :) The MTM seems simple and straightforward as well.

That's the beauty of the CETE - you're not locking in a fixed drop and are increasing the flexibility of air suspension.

E.g., you can make comfort mode higher than stock (for extreme situations), auto stock height, and dynamic lower than stock. And then you can quickly cycle through them with the drive select button.

Yeah, I am in CA so only have 91. However I do have a gas station right down the street with E85 so with JB4 I was able to put 4 or 5 gallons of E85 in the tank on my RS5 and quickly and easily log the car through the JB4 app and send it over to George at Burger and run the appropriate map. Kind of nice to see real time info on your car when running a tune as well.

The CETE air suspension modules have been insanely popular with the RS6 crowd so far, can't keep them in stock. I imagine there are some folks here who have their cars and are already running the CETE setup.

The CETE setup will lower/raise the car from what the car sets as a height in each main drive select mode. So if the RS6 isn't sitting lower in dynamic when parked the car would be whatever you lower in the app for dynamic. When you got moving if the car lowered itself this will still happen with the CETE setup.

    Example:

Dynamic - CETE set to 12mm lower - you are 12mm lower than the standard dynamic at park. You start moving and the car lowers 6mm more you are at 18mm of lowering from dynamic while parked.

You can set a speed threshold in the app which will essentially turn the CETE setup off above a certain speed as well.

If anyone has any questions on the CETE air suspension setup or exhaust valve controllers don't ever hesitate to contact me as the North American support/distributor: [email protected]

Interesting. That makes sense. I guess I'm pretty happy with the current ride height for the car as a daily. While I'm satisfied, I can see why someone who wants to slam the car, but not be committed to being low all the time, that this unit would work well for them as they can't customize and change as they see fit.

I can see that being beneficial for your preferences. Sounds like you enjoy tinkering, as a lot of people do. I'm guessing they haven't gone this far with the RS6 package as I would assume most owners just simply just want a little more power and aren't experimenting with different fuels etc as you would with more traditional VAG tuner cars like the S3, Golf R, S5, etc... My personal preference is a set it and forget it at 93 octane, 700hp is plenty :) But I get why someone like you could make use of more features. I think "APR" will have a flash eventually that will allow you to switch between various states of tune. The problem with the flash, as you know as indicated by your previous purchase of a second ECU for your other car, is that it's detectable, even when the flashed back to stock. I would wager that most of us are not comfortable riding in the grey area of the warranty with such an expensive drivetrain.

    Cheers,
Just curious, if you are set to 12mm lower than stock, while parked... Why would you want to drop another 6mm (for a total of 18mm) when you start moving. Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't your lowest setting typically be parked if you wanted that "stanced" look when parked, without the absurd camber?

At one point do start rubbing on the RS6?
Will the CETE let you go low enough to have a rubbing problem?

If you set the CETE to a certain level, does it completely override the stock system, disabling it? Or is there a possibility the car will continue to lower on it's own, going lower than you prefer, if it does its own adjustment based on driving conditions and speed?

How do most people set up the RS6 wtih the CETE?

    Sounds like an interesting product.

There has been some discussion among RS6 owners here that when parked in Dynamic the RS6 isn't lowering from Comfort because the height bars in the display don't change. I don't believe anyone has measured this yet. When the RS6 gets moving the display indicates the car is lowering one bar once at speed however.

The RS7 shows a bar lower in Dynamic when parked. Again no one has measured to compare if the RS6 and RS7 are doing something differently.

The question on the CETE module is if in fact the RS6 is _not_ lowering a car in Dynamic when parked then while driving if the RS6 is lowering at speed as indicated on the dashboard it will continue to lower that amount. If someone gets a measurement on the RS6 in Comfort and Dynamic while parked we would know a bit more.

The CETE air suspension controller allows the owner to set the height either lower or higher for each main drive select mode. The CETE setup works with the factory drive select controls which are still fully intact. It allows you to lower one drive select mode and leave the other alone or even lift one if you want. It will remember the setting you put for each drive select mode. It gives you the full ability of the air suspension and you can fine tune it by the millimeter using an app on your phone that Bluetooths to the installed CETE modules.

"Rubbing" as a term has many factors to it. Spacers (width), tires (sizing), aftermarket wheels (width+offset) and finally ride height. It even matters if you are turning the steering wheel or not if rubbing occurs. You wouldn't want to put the RS6 or any car in Show Mode which is for being parked only when using the CETE setup. That could lead to rubbing on the wheels arches with factory tires when turning.

As for lowering amounts, generally this is for appearance and that is why you can set Show Mode as mentioned above to "slam" the car while parked. Lowering a smaller amount for Dynamic helps with bringing the center of gravity down on the car. This will help a bit with roll/pitch/dive. The factory shocks do firm up on Dynamic as well and the full factory shock behavior does stay intact with the CETE setup too.

The CETE setup is great for anyone that wants to lower a bit for appearance and a mild handling improvement. It's great for someone who wants to park and hit the show mode button to "slam" the car for that appearance. It's great for someone who might have some crazy entrance angles and need to even lift beyond what Audi offers. It's neat to be able to use the absolute full range of the air suspension.

    Cheers,
Great info! Thanks for the detailed repy. Appreciate it.

I was considering lowering links, but once you lower it, you're always going to be 20mm or so lower than even the factory's highest setting. Which could be problematic over speed humps and steep driveways.

I had a GT3 with a front axle lift. That was pretty cool actually. Best of both worlds. Low all the time, and with the touch of a button, it raised up almost instantly in the front giving you a ton of clearance for pretty much anything.
