    SQ8/SQ7 Tuning

Is anyone tuning the V8 TT platforms yet for SQ7/SQ8? Thinking of trading in my S6 and have the DS1 (which is the bomb). Drove the SQ7 the other day. Sounds amazing right out of the box. Not as fast as I would have thought. I know it's and SUV but have driven the X5M50i's and they felt much quicker. Bimmer is a little smaller car than SQ7 and haven't driven the SQ8 yet but more power is always better IMHO (as long as the motor stays in tact). Any help/news appreciated!

I'm also interested in some tuning options. I just got my 2021 SQ8 a month ago. Its pretty damn quick, but a little more wouldn't hurt.

How did this go? I have a 2021, also looking for a tune but seems no one is ready.

VF Engineering has a tune they just wrapped up for the SQ8 4.0t and I believe the SQ7 has a similar box code but I have not scanned one yet.

Thanks. Just saw that. Was hoping for some more HP’s like the last 4.0TT. Need to wait and see what MTM and APR come up with I guess.

For now, those who want to tune local to Socal can take advantage of flashing back and forth locally versus mailing ECUs out.

We have a few RSQ8 at the shop now getting tunes. Big gains for these ones

That is good news. Maybe the stage 2 get a few more HP’s to make it interesting.

What are the differences between the SQ8 and RSQ8 engines?

Are you sure that the turbos are different? I haven't been able to confirm with anyone including my Audi dealership. The turbos have different parts numbers but that doesn't always mean that they're actually different parts.

Whether or not the parts themselves are different, I know the following have different part numbers between the SQ8 and RSQ8 -

    Turbochargers
    Intercoolers
    Pistons

Hi Shawn@PacificGerman would this tune void warranty or be traceable by the dealership?

I have a stage 4 DS1 S7 and asked John about tunes for my wife’s new SQ7 and he said it’s in the works. Based on my experience with APR, EPL, and DS1 Audi, nothing is close to DS1.

Technically a tune cannot void a warranty but if the manufacture determines that tuning has caused a failure, they can use the tune to deny a warranty claim. So far we have not had any issues with vehicles flashed to stock before a dealer visit.

I had both EPL and DS1 on my S6. Nothing matches DS1. Hope John gets it done!

Has anyone had any luck finding a tuner for the 2020+ SQ7? Seems DME can do it, but at $2500 for just an ECU tune I'd like to shop around a bit.

I got a tune done on my SQ7 here in Toronto by Eurocharged. 650 hp 690 torque. It’s a must have! So much more fun and responsive. The traction light does come on if I stomp it on the highway, the stock all seasons need to be replaced so I ordered the ABT FR22’s in gloss black with some Michelin Pilot sport 4s’s. The rims are 3-4 weeks out on order from Germany.

I also ordered a BMC air filter, the URUS model fits the SQ7/SQ8 (FB01023) and I ordered a cat less downpipe with heat shield from Shawn at Red Star, he also said 3-4 weeks. Shawns customer service thus far is empicable by the way, really excited to get that installed, I find in stock form it’s not loud or aggressive enough compared to the Benz’s and BMW’s.

I have a dragy coming in the next couple of days, I’ll post some videos of the tune I currently have, it’s a monster. I’ll need to retune once the downpipe comes in but I’m hoping with a more custom tune and the upgrades to be over 700hp and 750 torque.

Aside from that I have the windows tinted, all black emblems to go with black optics, I had the silver trunk trim wrapped gloss black and I have the carbon fibre ABT shifter on order. It’s been tough to find anything to enhance the look, if anyone stumbles on anything interesting in carbon please post it.

    Stay tuned!

Nice! I’m guessing that’s crank hp, not wheel? My simple goal is 700whp so it can be an SQ700.

Unfortunately no one local to me tunes them. I’ve reached out to shops and no one seems interested in it. :(

Curious to see what you get with the draggy. I can find my stock runs. I only have the mid pipe resonators removed and replaced with straight pipes. Eventually I’ll do a full exhaust, but will leave downpipes as we have yearly emissions here and they check.

    SQ700 love that
I was talking crank hp. I’d love to get to 700whp, 1 step at a time! I’ll post some dragy videos when I get it, should be delivered in the next couple of days

Hey, 650 crank HP is still a heck of an upgrade for "just" a tune and air filter. That's still a 30% increase in power! Geez!

ABT just announced their tune today... 640 HP / 626 lb-ft crank for $4,000! Seems excessive but does have a warranty and sounds like it's an entire replacement ECU. I'm thinking I'll be waiting for the JB4 so I can remove it before dealer service appointments.

So I pulled a 3.48 0-100 on dragy. I need to upload the time slip online somewhere and post the link. Username on dragy same as here. I only try a couple runs, I’m confident I can do better

The APR tune looks like nice numbers.

I’m looking to do a mid pipe, exhaust and intake but can’t find any options out there !

The APR tune alone is one of the biggest difference makers in a tune I’ve ever felt. These motors love good tunes.
