Anyone use clutch max ebay clutch?

I have 1.8t b5 with about 180,000 miles on it. Clutch is starting to slip and 3rd pops out of gear and is now completely useless. I'm swapping in a used 2.8 trans for longer gears and came across the clutch max stage 2 kit for $250. Has anyone on here run a clutch from this company before? If so how'd it hold up. I have a megasquirt coming soon and plan to big turbo. I wonder how this clutch will hold up to 400hp+. Will update after installed if anyone's interested.

Few select people say they are ok for the money, no real review though, just have to pull trigger and be a guinea pig :) And please dont dumb down this great engine with megasquirt...

So I don't know if I ever got that a clutch from that particular ebay store or not, but I did buy a stage 2+ clutch off ebay ONCE.
It was terrible. The stupid thing started slipping with in 30,000mi, I only had a stage 1 tune too. It was so upsetting, especially since the trans was such a pain in the ass to get in and out (b5 s4 without pulling the motor... but still) and it was the daily.. which meant I had to find time to schedule having her grounded again. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the whole thing. I learned the the whole "buy nice or buy twice" thing from that one. My new rule of thumb for ebay parts are: WHEN it catastrophically fails.. how much time and money will it cost me to redo it, and if it blows up in spectacular fashion... will it damage my car? Think of the worst possible senerio... and if you can live with the outcome then go for it. (luckly I only secondhanded that one from my buddy's subbie, flywheel came apart, destroyed both the engine and the trans, company of course took zero liability)
I'm sure that some people have good experiences from buying "performance" parts off ebay but I'm not one of them.. and I honestly haven't really met too many that have either.
My advise, save a bit more money and get something that is known to be a good part, do it once... so you can spend money on the next thing instead of spending more on a do-over way sooner then you planned. Its honestly the cheaper route.

I would think that if you plan to make 400HP+ you would want to spend a little bit more cash on something proven. Also if you plan to make 400+ you are going to need a lot more then just a clutch, tune and bigger turbo.

I know nothing about clutch max. Hope its a sleeper brand if you go for it.

I've seen good reviews for clutch max on other cars. I only paid $250 for the clutch so I'll be guinea pig I guess and let you guys know if it turns out good. I'm on a budget right now trying to take my awd A4 to Colorado instead of my stock fwd passat.

Right now the Audi has an unknown 15 psi k03 tune. We'll see how it holds up to the k03 before I swap on an old hx35 I have collecting dust. With 20mm wrist pins and stock rods I should be able to get close to 400 whp on e85 and keep it safe. The clutch is rated at 350hp so I'd rather the clutch be the weak link and slip then bend a rod from to much torque until I can build the motor.

I'm already pulling the engine to eliminate rust and paint the engine bay. Plus, I had to pull the front end off already to change all the belts. I figured it'd be easier to pull the motor and trans together than try and mess with separating the two under the car. Pulling the little 1.8t is a breeze compared to gm products.

I plan on pulling the motor again in another year or so. I plan on upgrading rods, balancing the rotating assembly, upgrading the exhaust valves and both sides valve springs, newer vvt cams, arp studs, a jh carbon synchro rebuild for the newer used 2.8 trans I'm swapping in, and an upgraded 240mm clutch. My 1.8t trans no longer has 3rd and I really want to avoid that problem again in the future.
