Q7 TDI Auxiliary Heater Remote Start FOBs

I have 2 FOBs for the factory remote start system for the Q7 TDI. These will likely be for our Canadian brethren, though some of you Northern folks might have it as well. Audi offered an extreme cold climate option for the TDI Q7 that allowed you to remote start a "parking heater" to heat the cabin of the Q. Most European TDIs came with an auxiliary heater from the factory. The only difference between that and the parking heater was a valve that ran the coolant through just the heater core versus the entire motor. The remote start will still work if you do not have the specific parking heater. It just takes more time to heat the interior as the coolant moves through the entire circuit. While the parking heater was available in other TDI models like the A6, the remote and module are specific to the Q7.

The remotes are very hard to come by and I spent considerable time tracking them down. Unfortunately for me I did not bother to see if I had the auxiliary heater first. This is very easy to do if you have Vagcom. Just plug it in and look for module 18, which is the auxiliary heat. If it's not listed under your installed modules you do not have it. You can buy and retrofit the heater but it is more work than I wanted to undertake. If you have the heater you just need the module and one of these remotes. I have a brand new remote and a used one in good condition. Looking for $225 shipped for the new remote and $150 shipped for the used one. For reference there happens to be a used one on Ebay right now for $263.18 shipped. Each remote will come with the battery pictured. This is a very neat option for the TDI and if I had more free time I would just retrofit the heater.
