Free VIN decoder that shows options/specs of the actual car?

Hi guys,

Im in the hunt for a S5 sportback. I have not found a free decoder for Audi that shows a review of the color, specs, options etc. I have found a few that just show the bare bones (Audi, S5, 3.0 Turbo engine etc) with no other useful data, at least not without a paywall. I found free decoders for other makers (like BMW) that give u the full specs of a particular car.

Anything out there?

Your best bet is to open a chat window with Audi USA, give them the VIN and they'll email you the window sticker shortly thereafter. Very friendly and helpful in my experience.

Andy that worked! They sent me 2 window stickers within just a few minutes of waiting for the chat! I wish this just a free tool on their site!!! So great. The reason I need it is some dealers do a very poor job of accuately listing features. Also some dealers put up a listing and it takes them several days or longer to post pictures of any features at all about the car.

Another member posted about using withclutch.com. it provides free window stickers and carfax reports. I got 6 window stickers in a few minutes (Audi and non-Audi). The free carfax didn't work for me. The link I received sent me to the carfax pay site.

Yes indeed it's pretty slick - only downside is you have to give them your cell (and by clicking submit, you're agreeing to receive who knows how many robocalls/texts).

I used it a couple of days ago and got 10 stickers. Haven't got any texts or calls. Fingers crossed this continues.

I recently read how to recognize and read Porsche numbers, but I think for this you need to file a request with the relevant authorities.

I was looking for specific options and kept searching all the RS5s on cars.com till I find exactly what I was looking for

I doesn't work for everything, needs to be in their list of makes and a fairly recent model (after 2010-ish). It's the best you can do for free but far from complete.
