Hi Alex, a couple of questions for you please:

Are these taillights the exact same ones in the following video?

    https://youtu.be/2hWzOUsO1bE

Is "HIGHLINE" a particular version of these taillights? Or is that just what they are called? If it's a particular version, what other versions are there?

Also, I don't think the taillights available in the US have rear fogs. What do they look like activated, how involved is retrofitting the switch, and where is the switch located?

    Thank you for your time!

I believe highline just refers to the tail lights being LED and having all the functionality (animations, etc). It's a bit of a hold over from a few years ago where you could get different tail lights (incandescent, LED, etc) depending on the vehicle trim. The RS5 only comes with the one type of lights.

You can see what the fog lights look like in the second video at 0:21.

There's a switch and a bit of wiring to install in addition to the lights. The rear fog light button is part of the headlight button assembly. If you look, there's a blank button underneath the front "all weather" lights button.

All post-facelift A5, S5 and RS5 get the same Highline taillights outside of North America.

Highline refers to the top level option for lighting. In areas outside of North America there are standard LED without dynamic turn signals or animations which are either called Lowline or Midline.

North American taillights do not have rear fog lights. There is no wiring required to add the rear fog light function when fitting the post-facelift taillights which is nice. You just replace the current headlight switch which has the rear fog light button. You can see the dual rear fog lights at 0:21 to the end of the video.

Thanks appreciate the info! One last question: any word on feasibility of post-facelift headlight retrofitting for pre-facelift models? Interested in these, but only if I can match front and back.

In the pre facelift there were two versions and the Highline name was associated with the one with the sweeping indicators. In the post facelift all models get sweeping indicators, so now the Highline refers to the "Dancing lights".

Have not really dug into headlights fully yet, but the wiring is identical which is a good sign. The shape hasn't been confirmed to be identical as of yet, then having the proper flash files for the module as that's changed (not available at last check), likely coding changes and calibration once installed.

You're welcome! These are the fun projects that take development time, some waiting, some testing, some more testing and a bit of risk they won't work with older models. However in the end everything works perfectly and even with a very early production North American S5 Sportback.

It's always nice develop new and unique products for the enthusiast community

The headlights are unlikely to be straight swaps because the bumper has changed shape. But what about a full bumper swap with a pre facelift car. Is that possible? I would do that just for the OEM hex grill. And then put in the new facelift headlights.
