My insurance company has my RS7 listed as an S7.

Do you see a downside to this? I know replacement values differ but wonder if the repair value is different in terms of oem body parts.

Not sure if there'd be a policy adjustment, it's as if they either bundled the two cars together in terms of rate, or its a typo.

Wondering if I should open the can of worms on this.

If you get into accident, they may not cover it. I'm sure rates for RS7 would be higher than s7 rates

Pretty sure just a bundling thing...

I just bought a S3 and when I gave my insurance company the VIN the paperwork says "A3". They are able to look up all the other info about the car via the VIN so I think it's just a grouping/bundling thing on their end?

Unless someone else posts otherwise that we should look into it, I plan to leave it alone haha.

I wouldn’t. As long as they have your VIN correct, I’d think you’re fine.

I’d want to make sure. For peace of mind.

They have your VIN, I don't think this is a big deal unless you want them to take a microscope on your premiums.

I'd bet theres not a premium difference between the Camry LE, SE, XLE, XSE, and the TRD. Their prolly treating Audi the same way.

If the vin is correct I wouldn’t worry about it.

The Camry example is trim levels shared between the same model, which there is little difference. The A7/S7/RS7 are technically different models, with a huge difference in liability insurance costs. The premium cost on an RS7 can be well over 4x the rate of an A7. The monthly premium on my A6 is $40, no way in hell they would let me drive around an RS7 for that much.

We get that. The point is who is to blame. It's not the customers responsibility to fix an insurance companies system.

What is your guess as to whether the rate is correct? I would like to figure out a way to get an anonymous rate quote for an A7, an S7, and a RS7 and compare between the three so as to have an idea as to whether my having rates for an S7 is even discounted. It could be that the S7 and RS7 rates are averaged.

I agree with the premise of the other posters that say as long as they have my correct vin, its not my problem as to how they classify the car related to it. At the end of they day, the only potential issue I may face is if the car is totaled or stolen, a complete loss - and what type of check they'd write to replace the car. REPAIRING said cars would not vary in terms of labor and parts unless somehow the engine was involved. They'd have a hard time telling the insurance board they undercharged me so they feel they only owe me enough to replace my loss with an amount respective to an S7. I dont think so.

I verified that the vin is correct as well so I also think we are in the clear. The funny thing is that they did the same thing with my truck when I got it.
