    JB1or JB4 vs racechip

    Hi Guys,

    I finally traded in 2017 A6 for 2017 A4 this week.

The car has technology, sport, and 19" wheel package.

Its nice! I want little more power so I was considering JB1&4 vs racechip. Any latest opinion?

I am looking for something that is smooth in power delivery but also noticeable in wide rpm range.

I know there has been a lot of discussion but please help me.

I am considering only piggy back for now because I got 5 year extended warranty on the car.

    Thank you!

The JB4 connects to the vehicle data network and does its mapping based on various engine parameters including pedal position and gear. This allows for 3D mapping giving smooth OEM power delivery.
The other units connect to rpm signal only and use boost for reference on when to active.

Besides that the JB4 alters fueling both in terms of fuel volume at the injector as well as AFR targets. Generic piggy backs rely on the ECU for fueling so they constantly running adaptions. This also makes the unit smoother in power delivery.

Hi Thank you for the reply.

How much difference is there between JB1 and JB4? I am just weary of the extra connector on JB4 that has to be routed to interior. JB1 seemed much cleaner solution.

    Please let me know.

    Thank you!

also can you use JB4 without connecting the wire that goes into interior?

The JB4 is more advanced and connects to the vehicle data network where it receives more engine parameters to do its mapping. This gives the unit the advantage to not only control boost per rpm like the JB1 but also per gear so you can dial in some traction in the earlier gears. The unit also has*higher fueling range that allows more boost at high rpm. It has fault reading capability and can also conduct full logging. It is a bit harder to install due to the OBD wire going into the cabin. This OBD connection is needed as it feeds engine data to the JB4 that it uses for mapping purposes.
