Has anyone tried the osram d3s 7000k cool blue boost hid bulbs? They actually any brighter than stock and dont throw any codes? I do a lot of mountain driving in the winter at night for snowboarding and never been blown away by the stock headlights by any means

I’ve got the CBB’s and they’re great, they’re not 7000k more like 5500k as they lie for advertising but they’re bright.

I have CBB, the light is much brighter and alot whiter.

    Only problem is maybe longevity.

I bought a pair and they lasted 3 months before one bulb burned out. Hope it was some factory defect, didn't read much reviews about the same thing happening. I bought another pair because they were so good.

For that kind of driving you should look at the osram night breaker lasers. They won't be the whitest bulb out there but the performance is outstanding.

You are only going to get so much out of the stock projector so maybe consider an upgrade there too if you do a lot of night driving.

Please remember the 7000K you mention refers to the color temperature, or shade of light. Focus on lumens as well if you want brightness.
If you have a few minutes, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v4QgnPLjVU. They explain the difference, and are the
reason I chose to go with the Osram CBI 5500K. They're a definite improvement over stock.

I second upgrading your projectors if you want the best light output possible, the OEM projectors suck imo. I put the CBB's in my stock projectors and meh, I still struggled to see farther down the road and I wasn't pleased with it. I live out in the country with no street lamps anywhere so I need as much light as I can get, I swapped in some G5 projectors and the light output is incredible. If you have ~$250 and a free weekend I'd 1000% recommend upgrading them. Since you do a lot of mountain driving there's a few people who have mounted light bars behind their grill if you REALLY want to throw some light on the road.

If you’re looking for the brightest output, I wouldn’t suggest 7000k colour, stay in the range of 4k to 5.5k. I replaced my stock bulbs with the Osram Night Breaker Laser and tou see a significant difference. There are currently the brightest D3S bulbs in the market. If that not enough for you, you need to go with plan B, upgrading the projectors iself.

You wont be disappointed. Could consider swapping to a D2S system too, check out theretrofitsource.com or talk to Cesar at Lightwerkz for some good options too.

Probably an Osram CBI or Philips XtremeVision. Spend some time on the couple sites I referenced above, they have a lot of stuff listed.

Osram Night Breaker Laser and Philips Xtrem Vision Gen 2 are the two brightest bulbs you can get.

No, we’re talking headlights HID D3S bulbs. You can not put led bulbs on HID’s projector housing.

LEDs are more for the fog lights.

LEDs should not go into a housing that isn't designed for an LED. Your light output will be worse, and you will just blind everyone on the road. As stated, they won't swap directly in to the HIDs anyway. The bulbs mentioned are not LED. You would likely need a D3S HID bulb.

Have you thought about adding an LED light bar behind you grille. I have seen this done and those things will brighten up the sky.

Yes. Either on the crash bar behind the grille or under the grille on the top of the upper lip.[IMG][/IMG]

Personally I would install a light bar unseen, behind the grille on a seperate switch. Especially if you are dark back roads.

I'm curious if you mount it in front of the heat exchanger if it overheats
