    Boss Kit VS K04?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone have any experience with this? I’m thinking of upgrading my turbo in my B8.5 A4. I bought the car new in 14 and only have 15k miles on it. I’m looking for some extra power as I feel it lacks compared to my 3.0T A6. I noticed that CTS has a Boss Kit? What are the benefits of going with the Boss Kit Vs the regular K04? What kinda power are the Boss kits putting out?

Hit up dadwgn. He was on CTS BW K04 kit then upgraded to the Boss kit. I'm not sure if he's active anymore as I remember a post of him selling his car. Buy he may still check now and then.

I saw him very active in the Boss Kit thread, but it seemed like he was one of the only ones who actually got the kit. I know he said something about 400hp and then 500hp. But I think his wasn’t wheel hp? I’m not sure. I know the KO4 is much cheaper but I’m not after price. I’m after HP lol

If I had a choice to start over and the Boss500 kit was available, I'd have gone with that over the K04.

The biggest issue was finding someone to tune it. Not a lot of tuners out there wanted to tune for the kit supposedly. Now that people seem to be going the custom tuning route, I'm sure it will be a bit easier. The kit says it's complete bolt on but you will probably have to upgrade your internals.

He went to his same tuner in Vegas. He posted it all over the FB pages. Same tuner that did his K04.

Ah. I thought dadwgn said he had to upgrade some stuff after upgrading to the Boss kit. Very curious how the Boss kit would be with the custom tuner you guys are using.

I'm sure way better than the K04. Haha. If I knew what I know now I definitely would have gone that route. Although the Boss kits weren't available when I bought the CTS BW K04.

A lot of tuners have their own K04 kits maybe that’s the reason?

Last I checked a few months ago it was. I don't think it's changed.

My guess is that most have their own version of BW or BW style K04's for our cars. But none have a Garrett or tune for it yet. I could be completely wrong. Just my guess.

There's no tune for it. I researched and followed dadwgn for a while and ultimately it took a LOT of hours on the dyno to get it dialed in and honestly for the amount of work you have into that setup to even get it to run good - it's not a large HP gain for the effort. IMO, if allroad b8.5 (e85) go k04 with APR stg3 tune. If non e85 b8 - go any k04, cts/jhm.

Can you not do E85 with the boss?
