Looking for the best All season performance tires

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Fellas,

    I traded my 2015's s4 and s8 plus for a 2019 RS5.

Now they had 3 RS5 in the lot and I picked the one with the best looking exterior. Carbon fiber splitter, diffuser and mirrors, tinted and all badges black including the Audi emblem but it had the basic wheels.
Now they had a 2020 RS5 with the ABT wheels and I made a deal with them ;if they can put the ABT wheels on the RS5 I bought. They had no problem with switching them.
The request was on Monday since I took the s8 for inspection.
I drove down the dealership today because they needed to make sure the s4 was good to go.

They already switched the rims on the rs5. They look damn good; however I do not like how they stick out off the tire.
Tires that are currently on are 275/25 ZR 21.

I live in germany so I do drive at high speed when I'm on the autobahn. I would really like some good performance tires. Maybe 285/30 21's, but not sure of the brand to buy.

Any help I would appreciate it.

I got the title in hand. So by next week I will have it registered and hopefully drive it out by end of the week and I will post some pics.

    Thanks guys

There doesn't seem to be many all-season tires in the 285/30R21 size and rightly so it is a very wide size usually only found on high performance machines running summer tires.
I'd get Michelin PS4S the RS5 deserves a good high performance summer tire and then also get a winter wheel/tire package and swap out for the seasons.
If you absolutely cannot do summer tires and swap for winter these are the A/S's I found in 285/30R21: (I have no clue about the last three brands)
    Conti DWS06
    Nankang Tire AS-1
    Lionhart LH-Five
    Goldway R828

It does look like there are several good winter tire choices in that size however
    Pirelli Sottozero 3
    Conti TS860S
    Dunlop Wintersport 4D
    Michelin PA4

On a side note those 275/25's must be brutal on anything but glass smooth roads.
Also keep in mind a 285/30 will be 5% larger diameter than what you have so you need to make sure they would fit.

    2023 e-tron GT Daytona Gray

    2015 S6 Quartz Gray
    2014 SQ5 Glacier White
    2012 S4 S-Tronic Monsoon, Stage II [email protected] 4275lbs
    2008 A6 3.2Q S-Line Daytona
    2007 A4 2.0T S-Line Ice Silver
    2001 S4 Nogaro Blue, Stage I [email protected] 3944lbs

Hey thanks for the options. I can definitely do summer tires. I drove all winter (beginning of the year) with summer tires on the S4, but winter coming up in germany. You never know how funky the weather is.
Rally didn't get any snow in my area, but you never know.

I just never seen rims like the GR 21 ABT stick out like that.

I will look into the Michelin PS4S and see what winter tires the shop can offer.

Funny thing is my neighbor has rs5 as well, but a coupe with 20 inch abt and his does not stick out and I believe he also has 275's

Here is a pic of my wheels and tires

FWIW summer tires should not to be used below 8C (45F) regardless of if there is snow on the ground. The rubber compound gets dangerously hard and you risk your own and other's lives. Simply put, don't do it. If you must have cold weather driving tires then look for those Conti DWS06's please.

I don't know much about ABT since they are not common in the US.
However looking at their website those GR21's appear to be for an SQ5 for use with their wheel arch extensions which may explain why they stick out too much on your RS5.
Also they don't list specs, but I assume they are 21x10" ET21 maybe, so a 275 would be quite stretched on a 10" wide wheel. So, yes, a 285 would be a better fit on a 10".
The 20" ABT's your neighbor has might be 20x9 or 20x8.5 which would both look better and not be stretched with a 275 compared to your 10".

Thanks for the update and your concern on driving with summer tires during the winter.
    I'm quit aware of that.
Thier is a law in germany you have to have winter tires on if it's snowing regardless, but summer tires are fine if it's clear; however I will put winter tires on, but not on the 21's.
I forgot that Audi gave me the original alloy wheels which are 20's.
I have a good friend that works for VW and will check on deals for winter tires and use his discount.
I will worry about the 21's when spring comes around the corner, but the Michelin you mentioned are #1 on the list.

I believe my neighbors are 20×9 with conti tires on.

On another note the ABT wheels are just a package not necessary for the sq5 as they have different types of wheels.

Actual ABT-R is the whole kit with the ABT tuning which the warranty covers it.

Mistake I did with the s4. Was an after market remapped and warranty out the door. De-tuned it. Audi didn't catch. Hell they didn't even diagnosed the car. They just made sure it ran and in good shape. Which it is.

    Again thanks for the mentions.

    Safety first!!

Hi guys. Any recommendations on tires with a rim guard, all season? Looking to get 285/30/19 and 245/35/19. Hopefully there will be Black Friday deals coming up for the holiday on tires.
