Does pulling the #5 fuse that disables the Soundraker , make a difference in sound?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
That would disable the device , and I am told produce a soft code. Since I have owned the S4 ,I have set level through Midi
On comfort. Lately I notice the sound on accelerating as usual, but it comes from exhaust system. Would disabled Soundaktor make a difference. As I have more time on my hands, I notice things that never concerned me bofore. Have anyone disabled it & what are your observations?

Yes. Turn it off. It's fake sound being played by speakers in the cabin. You can turn it off via vagcom and ODBEleven as well. It sounds much more natural now that I have it off. I prefer it off.

The fake noise is meant for cars that were stock and quiet, but gave the "sport thrill" of sounding cool in the cabin.

Pulled the fuse when I got my AWE exhaust...ended ALL the droning issues I was having. Was able to tune it out of my BMW, which was nice.

These things should be left for Honda's and Toyota's

you can disable it via vag-com or obdeleven and even set the volume which i've played around with. or just pull the fuse. it is a speaker of sorts itself on the firewall in the rain tray (area between wipers and engine bay) that vibrates the chasis to make the sound, it's not actually played through our speakers. it makes it hard to locate the sound which is the point, so you think it's coming from the exhaust. especially if you have an aftermarket exhaust you should disable it.

I must be in the minority, because I actually think it sounds okay. I'd prefer to have it than not and have a silent car. My A6 3.0T was quite, and it made it so boring. At least this think gives me some sound till I get an exhaust. I was planning on a MF XPipe, but after reading more on it, it seems like a lot of people are having issues with the packing blowing out.

I pulled the fuse and never looked back. Now I can actually hear the car's own natural exhaust.

good to know... I'll probably pull it or vcds it when I have more time... so you have no exhaust (besides the ecs x-pipe) and prefer no soundakator?

I figured with it on it makes the car sound more "full"... I came from the b7 s4 with the v8 and it's hard to duplicate that sound but with the milltec and soundakator... pretty close so haven't tinkered with the fuse.

What exactly about the soundakator didn't you like (drone, etc...)?

    Thanks!

I have resonated AWE Downpipes mated to the OEM back boxes. My car is extremely quiet.
I pulled the fuse to see how I like the removal of fake noises. The car overall became so quiet that I ended up putting the fuse back in, as I had no way other than looking at the tach to gauge RPMs. In spirited driving situations (DSG car) I felt the need to constantly look at the tach which distracted me from the road. I need a sound to give me cues for engine speed, otherwise i'm lost. I guess I need to change mufflers.

Originally I played with the soundaktor's settings (from min to max volume) and thought that was cool, but not fully realizing just how artificial the sound actually was. Then I got the ECS X-pipe installed and loved it.
After that I decided to pull the fuse out and and truly heard what my exhaust sounds like, and I couldn't be happier. Of course this is all subjective to your own individual preferences. For me, the cold start is a thing of beauty.

My recommendation is to skip any VCDS or OBDEleven mods and just pull the fuse. If you don't like the results stick the fuse back in; it takes all of 20 seconds.

Once I learned that my bad-ass sounding S4 was an MP3 file, I pulled the damn fuse! I was sooooo disappointed!

A week later, I put it back in. The silence was deafening!

I thought to myself, 50 cent fuse or $2k+ exhaust with some drone???

50 cent fuse for the win!

I've got the fuse pulled currently, but when I do a VCDS scan I always get the soft code for it. Do you get the same softcode when coding it out or does the autoscan come back clean?

I been playing around with the soundaktor. When My car was stock, I completely removed the the soundaktor, it’s actually boring to drive, to quiet for my taste. So I put it on but tone down the volume. When I installed the Xpipe, I want to hear the XPipe sound, without the soundaktor on, it much more natural and pleasant to hear.

You're getting soft code because you pulled the fuse. If you code it out using VCDS, you won't get any codes.

Is the X-Pipe with the Soundaktor removed louder, quitter, or the same as the Soundaktor alone?

I drove my A6 in manual as it made me a little is sad about having an auto. But the car was so quite, it made it difficult to know when to shift, especially when you have 8 gears. Now that I have a 6MT, I need some sort of audible cue.

I have the resonated Xpipe, so we’re talking around 15% exhaust sound increased compared to stock. With the soundaktor, on at dynamic mode, I can barely hear my xpipe. The fake noice of the soundaktor is just too loud in the cabin. By removing the soundaktor, there are less noice in the cabin and you can actually hear the natural sound of the exhaust, from the exterior. I have dsg and I always use the manual paddle shift, so I like to hear the sound on the exhaust, to know when to shift.

Thanks, I'm looking for a louder sound than the Soundaktor, so maybe the X-Pipe isn't for me at all.

In this case, you better delete the mufflers or install some performance mufflers.
