    Lexani LX-Twenty Performance Tire

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Howdy all. Any one tried the Lexani tires? I'm considering the Lexani LX-Twenty Performance Tire all season, hoping I get good performance in winter as well as wet.

They're inexpensive as well, which raises the typical "Why?".

im gonna go with a quick no.

dont cheap out on tires. The 2"x10" contact patch of rubber is the only thing that gets you moving, stops you, and keeps you from sliding sideways.
one of the first reviews i pull up of those tires is too much road noise and not good for winter.

According to Amazon, they are manufactured in South Korea by the same.company that makes Nexen". Could be like other brands where someone manufactures for another, and these are priced to be a sort of "cheap chic" tire. Reviews on Amazon are pretty good, but most also don't have the vehicle or type of driving identified.

You could try them out for the forum!

Tricky with reviews these days, many of them, like the site you quote, may be paid by the vendors. Noted a few of both view, "these are great" and "these are terrible" on the "tire review" sites.

I try to trust Amazon more, but there are ALSO companies that pay folks to file reviews!

Checking deeper, tirereviewsandmore.com does ring better, but, that's why I'm asking here for a real driver that actually ran these tires.

Continental DWS06 - probably the best all season you can get.

Don't go cheap on rubber especially if you're going to use it in less than ideal conditions.

I've been getting picky on price after experiencing the Corvette tax for several years.
$$$$ != good . Neither $ != bad. Just depends, surprise happens sometimes.

tirereviewsandmore.com's review does have a mostly positive ring, for warm performance. And they highly prefer using real winter tires for snow, not all season: https://tirereviewsandmore.com/snow-...st-online-buy/
Fenced on this. My area is "usually" not bad in the winter, unfortunately Old Nasty has her mind on messing with us this year. Argh!

A long time ago I worked at Discount Tire. Learned you get what you pay for when it comes to tires.

I only buy Michelins for summer tires and blizzak or nokian for winters.

I had a set but since I bought a 4x4, I don't take the audi to the snow anymore so I sold them. They handled the snow and rain beautifully and were pretty good in the summer too.

For spirited driving in the dry, they're really predictable and start to let out a scream before you lose traction so you can confidently push the limits around corners.

Agree 100%. Why take a chance on an unknown quantity? It'll prove a false economy if you are unhappy with them for whatever reason and need to buy again.

I had them on my wife's 17 jag xe-r sport. They are a little noisy compared to the pirelli's on my A6. That being said, they get the job done. Here in Pittsburgh we get our fair share of snow usually, and we have lots of hills and windy roads. Some cases it doesnt matter what tires you have on the car. Michelin's cant compensate for stupidity. For daily driving they were fine. I ran them 3 years and put 30k miles on them before trading in the car. I can't argue that there is better tires available or choosing tires shouldn't be taken serious. But I also feel that some people are unbalanced in expectations and or safety concerns. The person behind the wheel is by far, more of a factor than if a tire is made over seas. Again besides the obvious bald tires and whatnot. If you are cautious, defensive driver, and recognized the road conditions, they will be just fine. Let get real people, if your shopping for lexani tires, it's not because your looking for performance. My man isnt looking to lower his weekend lap times. Just saying.

I used to have similar with computer hard drives. Swore by Seagate's for years. Well, somewhere in there, they went to complete junk, including warranties. Things change. Let's hope 2020 figures that out!

Western Digital was always THE brand to go with. Wasn’t Seagates failure rate 20% at some point?

Agree. Mine were not noisy as in annoying or "omg I cant stand it", but there was a difference compared to my A6 with Pirelli cent. P7 and my winter beater B6 with goodyear eagles. Again not bad, but I noticed a difference compared to the OEM's I replaced. I cant remember what they were tho, sorry. Also too, I'm sure being a fairly high mileage tire for that size it was a harder compound which I'm sure would contribute to more noise. I got 12k out of the OEM's, and traded it with 41k on it, and they still had 4-5/32's left. I was more than satisfied.

I'm not saying better tires are not worth the money, but it's not always in the budget for some people, especially for what the car is being used for.

    Not 20 years ago.

I had three of the original Barracudas running in an email server of mine, 24/7 for 13 years with Redhat 7.3 (the original Redhat 7.3, not that E junk).

I've had issues in the past with DWSs where I had premature sidewall failure. 3 of the 4 tires were this way (1 actually blew), and those 3 were from the same batch (week/year manufactured). Continental told me to go pound sand. Never bought another Continental product again.

That's a bummer. I always buy from America's Tire with their extended warranty. They price match competitors (including tire rack) and have basically a 'no questions asked' warranty for a little extra $.

    America's Tire Warranty FTW!

The rep charged me $45 total for the warranty on ALL tires (he said it was normally something like $45 for each tire).

I ended up having 3 or 4 tires replaced for free on my old car.

I'd still be buying from them if I didn't get the perks I get at work. Managing a fleet has its up sides

I am running the Continental Control Contact 19 inch all seasons on my A7 as well as my daughters Eclipse. The Eclipse is light so they are just okay in the winter on that platform. Now on my A7, I think they do better in winter than our AWD Jeep Patriot. So far I have gotten a bit over 60,000 miles out of this set. I was running them on my last car which was a FWD Chevy Cruze and I was getting almost 80,000 miles a set.

For my area (Chicagoland) an all season tire is adequate. The highways are cleared in a day or so, arterial roads are cleared within a few days, my neighborhood is cleared eventually and by then its not really able to scraped down to the asphalt until the next sunny day.

My thoughts are that cheap tires are not always bad but expensive tires are not always great. There are plenty of excellent budget friendly tires out there on the market.
