    2006 A4 B7 3.2L Relay diagram help

I'm fairly new to diagnosing issues with my '06 A4. It's a 3.2L and info seems a little harder to come by. No modifications that I'm aware of.

I'm having an issue where my fans aren't coming on when sitting in traffic, so the car overheats. AC gets hot at the same time. Might be worth noting the fans only run at a slow speed and when the AC is on high. When the fans turn on, the RPMs drop slightly and there's a slight squealing/clicking noise. OBD scanner is giving me "006449 - Coolant Fan Control Module (J293)" so research suggests it's either the FCM, the fans, or a fuse/relay. I've already ruled out the #4 fuse in the dash side panel box. I've yet to crack open the ECM to see if water got in there, I did recently drive through some very heavy rain, but I'm waiting for a wiper blade puller to arrive.

So, I'm currently trying to test any relevant relays, but after quite a bit of Googling and searching on here I'm not finding a diagram to help me make sense of the relays below my dash. From the electrical diagram in my Chilton Repair book (not sure of the quality of this book), there should be one or two relays in this area, Coolant Fan Fuse 42 (40A) and Fuse 344 (15A) to the Aux Engine Coolant Pump. I had a little trouble getting photos but here's how it looks:

The top two rows here have a row of 3 bays, and then a row of 6 bays:

For the bottom row, there are 4 bays:

I'm not sure how to tell what's what since the numbering on the fuses and on the relay panel bays doesn't match up to how the book refers to the relays. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any info or advice.

According to this, maybe the relay I'm after is in the ECU? https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...r-replacement)

I have more info (and problems) and could still really use some help. Getting this car to my trusted Audi mechanic isn't possible right now, so I'd like to exhaust any basic things I feel capable of doing myself in the hopes of getting it back on the road ASAP.

Since I wasn't sure which relay was which (would still like a comprehensive list for future reference), I went ahead yesterday and tested them all with a multimeter and didn't find any issues. I also opened up the ECU to check for water intrusion (drove through very heavy rain right before the cooling problems started). Found no intrusion and both 614 relays (which I believe are indeed for the fans) checked out fine. Checked the coolant temperature sensor... is responding to temperature changes but is older and corroded so I'll probably just replace that anyway. So as of yesterday evening I was inclined to think the issue is the fans and/or the FCM. As a part of all of this I had the battery unhooked for a time. Car started and heated up just fine after I got everything back together, and I called it a day.

Then, this morning, there are new problems. I'm getting a warning for the oil sensor, and I'm unable to shift into drive until I try a few times (usually around four). I'm familiar with (non automotive) electronics, and was very careful putting everything back together, taking pictures beforehand to ensure I had the relays in the right spots, etc.

So, does the oil sensor warning and shift lock ring any bells for anyone? Did I mess up a relay or something? I don't want to think about it, but is my ECU crapping out? Have heard not great things about ECUs for the '06s.

You need to get your car scanned mate. Easiest and most straight forward way to diagnose.
