01E Transmission (Rebuilt by Advanced Automotion) - SE Michigan

A used 6 Speed, 01E Transmission that was rebuilt by Advanced Automotion. There are less than 2.5kmiles put on the transmission after the rebuild. This was taken out of my Nogaro track day B5 S4 that is being parted out. I was very pleased with the shifting on this box when it was in use. The service in the link below is what I believe was performed on my transmission. I have contacted Scotty at Advanced Automotion to confirm what service this transmission received. What I learned is in a post below.

I am asking $800 for the transmission, shifter linkage (to cabin), spacer ring and diff housing. The center differential is NOT included. This transmission has the JHM "Solid" Linkage Upgrade (see photos below). The transmission is currently in South East Michigan and is available only for local pickup. Unfortunately, the previous owner of the car had all of the work done; so all I have is receipts to put it together. I found the Advanced Automotion receipt for the transmission "overhaul". It ran $1900 with a $600 core. I think that is equivalent to the "Rebuilt and Upgraded 01E Audi S4/A6 6 Speed Transmission" service offered by Advance Automotion currently. At least it's consistent with the pricing.

It's still here waiting for a fun project and good home. I may post it eventually, but there is a JHM short shifter kit available as well. The previous owner had the JHM Trio kit installed; so the transmission has the JHM "Solid" Linkage Upgrade.

During my conversation with Scotty he did tell me that 01E transmissions were paired to gasoline and diesel engines. If a transmission was rebuilt for a gasoline engine; in this case a B5 S4 then it would have the upgraded internals. If the trans was destined for a diesel engine it was left with stock internals and was more of a recondition/refresh. He also thought the overhauled service $1895 cost was in line with the $1995 service he has today.
