G25-660 Kit by 2.7tmotorsport and THETuner!

Hey guys I have some pretty exciting news (at least for me it is lol). Ever since I found out about TheTuners cast manifolds and the new G-series turbos, I really wanted to find a way to get the reliability of the cast manifolds and the crazy flow the G-series turbos to come together. I originally planned to reach out to a CNC shop to design an 3 bolt to V-band adapter to find a way to mate the two up, little did I know, but THETuner had already had this design in plan and released this exact adapter that I had in mind a few weeks later. Ecstatic about this news, I reached out to 2.7tmotorsport about getting a custom kit revolving around an internally wastegated G25-660 set-up made, as I had already ordered a set of the cast manifolds. Kemal said that he would find a way to make it work with THETuner and after some time and lots of development, the project to get a fully bolt on PnP solution has finally come to fruition. Attached are a few teaser pictures that I was sent. I again want to thank 2.7Tmotorsport and THETuner for all of the effort that they put in to make this project a reality. I am sure that 2.7tmotorsport will officially release more pictures and details about the project, but I just wanted to let the community know. I will also start a build thread eventually on here documenting everything, but for now this is just a teaser. Again a shoutout and thanks to Kemal and Andreas, Kemal’s projects and other miscellaneous 2.7t related stuff can be found on his pages.

So you’re using their cast manifolds and an adapter?...kinda looks like tubular headers in the pics but hard to tell with the heat shielding.

I wonder if you can use the adapter with some stock headers.

Cant wait to see more, I've been waiting to find out if the g25s would fit the cast manifold for a few months now

That’s what was I thought was initially planned, I actually haven’t been told if that’s the route that was stuck to.

Thanks man me either, but it will probably take a while until I get everything together and going, honestly there will probably be other kits made after mine that will hit the road before I will, but I’m excited nonetheless lol

    Thanx Michael.
We customized THE Cast manifolds V- banded to turbo.
There is no adapters to be used for this. Its a spec production for this purpose.
I started working with this 6 month ago, making plans with Michael. This is a big turbo for stock location, and internally gated version makes it even bigger challange. Also a full professional solution was done for oil and waterlines as is custom V- band 3.5” DPs, 70mm custom Inlets, Flow developed custom turbo outlets to look as OE turbos and custom oversized pressure pipes plus more to allow fittment of this huge setup.
As in every development there is a team of people involved with different skillz and this could not be possible without our partner Andi THE-Tuner.

Mocke, any idea of power potential and responsiveness of these turbos on the 2.7?

Power potential in theory is 660hp per turbo (60lbs/min). Responsiveness depends on the A/R, also helps if you’re a 3.0L stroker. Similar builds on G25-550s and 3.0L were done and they hit full boost around 4500RPM, so with a bigger compressor wheel I expect it to hit full boost around 5krpm.

So is the plan to offer a plug and play kit that fits internally gated g25-550 turbos in the stock location with minimal or no modification?

(Manifolds, downpipes, pressure pipes, inlets, water lines, oil lines)

These turbos comes with 3 diff A/R
.92 is the biggest and should produce 600 per turbo.
MCPs are .72, so this should result in some less power ofc.
Personally i belive 660s are too big for our platform, but we dont know yet as there is no official results yet.
Both 550s and 660s .72 shoud be used with 3L Strokers and imho put more work on head n cams to achive best possible range. Top end will not be an issue. These produce peak hp and will not suffer heat issues.

I am working on different G25-550 setup aws, we´ll see how that turns out.

Thanks for the insight Mocke, excited to see what comes of this. Seems like built heads would be advantageous to have more rpm to expand powerband with that spool.

Saw the post, that’s some car porn right there! I’m with silver S4 he shared yesterday. We are just starting to order parts for the block. I’m doing pretty much all of the THETuner stuff with tte950 turbos.

Are you going with AZR/ASJ or BF?

Wish we could all just get along and enjoy b5’s and all the different projects. I am not on Facebook Mike, but if THETuner is i am sure you’d probably find the pictures there, but I will probably end up posting some pictures on here for the people that are not on social media to see as well because it is too beautiful not to lol.

Those are some serious turbos as well, hope all goes well on the build and can’t wait to see it push some serious numbers. I am doing a lot of THETuner parts as well, and unfortunately I am on a BF block. It was built by EXCLR8 performance in Connecticut, but I am having second doubts about whether it can hold the power as is. They did a good job for what it was meant to be for originally(TIAL 770’s), but I bought the project off of someone and decided to take it a different route lol. It has the IABED girdle kit with IE I-beam rods and Mahle 83mm pistons. The points that I would’ve like to strengthen would’ve been billet main caps, THETuner oil pump, ARP 625+ rod bolts and maybe tool steel wrist pins. I will see what I decide as it would require tearing down the block and reworking everything again.

I will be going with a BF block as well but I am doing everything when it comes to machining possibly shot peening and wpc treatment as well. I am getting everything from Kemal including the THE girdle kit which comes with oil pump, billet mains and studs.

I inquired about the RS4 block thought it was too much money, 2 days later changed my mind, said I’ll buy it and it was already sold!

We’ll see, I think with all the stuff I’m doing we should be able to push some nice numbers. I’ll be going with 2.4 heads with supertech valves. I think the only thing in my build that’s missing is the RS4 block.

Your build should be done before mine, I hope it all goes well for you.

I know this is off topic, but will you be using just Supertech valves or valves and retainers? If you're using their retainers, are they steel or titanium? The reason I ask, is a friend of mine used to road race a 1997 Honda Civic with a B16 with rev limit up at around 9200rpm, and I think I recall that it used Supertech titanium retainers for the valve springs, and the retainers would eventually get beat up and need replacing, so just wondering about that, but it may not be an issue at lower rpm, or at least not as much time at really high rpm. - Jim

I’ll answer here since I’m sure OP will start a different build thread so I hope we’re not hijacking his post.

I’ll be doing a full build on the heads. Going to be reving high, will confirm with my tuner how high but I don’t think it will be an issue since it’ll be way less than 9200 and won’t be revd that high as often.

I’ll ask my builder/machinist he has experience with some Honda motors. He’ll probably be able to tell me if they’ve had any issues.

How often would you say they’d have to be replaced? Was the car strictly for road racing or street/track car?

I think they were checked for wear at least once a year. The car was for road racing only and not street legal. I would expect that the titanium retainers are lighter, but they could have wear issues at very high rpm, so good to ask about it if you were going to use titanium retainers. The road race car would be spending all of its time on track at say 6500-9200rpm instead of just occasional high rpm for a street car. - Jim

Yeah I’m not sure if I’m going to be revving past 8000-8200 and since this is going to be a straight line car I don’t think it will be an issue.

There is no revving past 8000 rpm on majority of turbos possible to use on these engines.
Unless you are using extremaly large single.
Not recommanded in any case. V6s suffer from imbalance, so high rpm is no go really.

MCP - If the motor is not built under your supervision, i suggest you have a second look at it.
This is the part most get wrong and it ends the whole project shortly.

Yeah, I was thinking that I would at least open it up again to verify everything was done correctly and to see how they modified everything to fit in the girdle, I might also decide to further modify it and add some more goodies

If you are referring to the inlets the kit came with them, I just didn’t have any more space there to take pictures of them as well lol, don’t get me wrong those are a beauty as well too along with the pressure pipes and mounts etc.

And here are the inlets and pressure pipes too, also artwork IMO, also the engine mount/transmission mounts brackets quality is absurdly nice, pictures can’t do those justice as when you have it in hand you can really tell it’s quality stuff.

Yes, I believe that the speed sensor port location on the drivers side will not allow me to run one, but the passenger side should work. I probably would’ve only done one side as the speed sensor kits are pricey at around $430 a pop, but it would be neat to see both. On another note here is a picture showing the size difference between these turbos and an OEM RS6 one.IMG_2239.jpg
