    Capristo Exhaust Sound

For those of you with a capristo, is it pretty loud with just the catback when valves are open? All the videos I've seen were catless. Of course sound is subjective, but how much louder than stock do you find it to be?

    Valves closed: somewhat louder.
Valves open: hard to quantify, but I'll just say a lot louder.
FWIW, with valves open, Capristo is maybe 20% louder than JHM at same rpms.

JHM non resonated catback? Since you said somewhat louder with valves closed, would you say it would wake up neighbors in cold start? Thanks for the insight

Yes and yes. Capristo cold start is way loud; backs way off afterwards, but by then neighbors are awake and seriously pissed.

Damn...I was really hoping it would be close to stock with valves closed and get away with cold starts so early in the morning. I live in a dead quiet HOA area where you can hear someone sneeze 4 houses away. Should be interesting.

Are you guys running the capristo by itself? Honestly I read another thread about a cold start delete tune that elimates it. Maybe something to consider if someone really goes down on the noise complaints.

noise complaints and our cars usually go hand in hand lol.

on a serious note, i've heard the valved milltek and its quite quiet. Although I'm not sure if they had the factory cats still etc.

On a previous RS4, I had the non-valved Milltek exhaust with factory cats - barely louder than stock but still a nice sonic upgrade.

I am running a Capristo also with stock cats, to my ears the Capristo with the flaps closed sounds like the stock with the flaps open. The start up is louder for sure because it starts with the flaps open, then they close within a couple seconds though. Flaps open on the capristio especially passing the 4-5k rpm range sounds awesome with a nice crackle on heavy decel sometimes.

Did you already order it? If not there may be another option if you'd rather ovals.

I'm running piggies w/Capristo so louder than some of the folks here with stock DPs. I think you will be just fine with stock DPs and closed valves on initial startup......keep garage door closed for the first few seconds should help.

I have not yet ordered it. Ive done countless research on systems and found Tubi, HMS and Capristo the best sounding ones to my ears. Have valves is important and the only cheaper exhaust I found that I liked was JHM, but I need the valves for sure.

Seems like a good idea. I got a bunch of fans too so I guess start up with doors closed wont kill me with the fumes.

    Capristo Exhaust Sound

Capristo is eargasmic with valves open, just a little more bass than stock with valves closed (I have gutted precats).

I bought a remote valve actuator, and you can force the valves closed if you want with just the push of a button (for tracks with sound limits for example).

If valves are an option, I’ve personally been leaning milltek non-res. Which should give the same sound as normal sport with valves closed and sounds super nice to me with valves open. The milltek Center resonators seem to really dull its sound
