Allstate only uses Safe-Lite for Windshield Replacement

Developed a nasty rock chip earlier today; also noticed a crack on the windshield in that same area. I asked Allstate to approve me for OEM glass but they advised me to deal with Safe-Lite in this matter and apparently Allstate doesn't pay for OEM glass, only aftermarket garbage. I would have to pay out of pocket for the OEM glass. Any advice in what can be done?

I literally just dealt with this myself. If allstate won't provide glass replacement OEM under there comprehensive coverage, then change insurance companies. Also if you don't want to pay deductible, make sure the glass is set to $0 in the comprehensive coverage. I am with Progressive. State Farm will cover as well....at least in my state. Each states coverage options are different.

Yep, I'm about to shell out $520 for OEM glass with Safe-Lite because Allstate only covers Aftermarket junk (and I mean junk)
I have Allstate's comprehensive coverage, they could at least have us pay a deductible if we want OEM parts

You could always find out who the OE manufacturer is and ask for that, I would not want the non-acoustic glass if that's the only option they have.

FWIW, I recently replaced my Q5 front windshield with Safe-Lite. Did the same on my wife's Volvo, my Armada SUV and a Mazdaspeed 3 over the years when each got chips that spread into cracks. Every one was excellent, good as OEM in my book.

The glass they use must be acoustic, as I can tell no difference in road noise or outside sounds.

I don't use insurance to pay for glass replacement, as they will just jack up your premiums next year to cover the loss. Since I pay myself, I don't have to take what insurance companies will pay for. Yet, I chose Safe-Lite, am very happy with the quality and service.

StateFarm uses Safelite and covers 100% on comprehensive.
They fixed the chip but it was too close to another repair from before I bought the car.
Called them up and told them that I was concerned about two repairs that close together and they replaced it.
Other than the jack wagon tech, the glass is great.
