    Remote Start?

Hey folks, been looking into a remote start for a 2011 S4. Digging into searches, it seems folks in the other sections like the A7/Q7's had success doing a self-install using these parts below WITHOUT sacrificing a keyfob needing to stay in the car at all times.

    -iDatastart CMVWXA0 control module
    -ADS-THR-AU2 T-harness
    -ADS-USB weblink cable.

For us S4 owners, the consensus seems that we need to sacrifice a keyfob to stay in the little keybox with the remote start? I only have 1 key, no valet key, and wondering if anyone's had luck getting their DIY-install remote start to work without giving up a key? Otherwise it sounds like I need to get a sacrificial 2nd key programmed by dealer/auto locksmith then look into remote start.

    Thanks

The Fortin EVO-AUDT1 can come preloaded with key codes and available plugnplay harness. Means no wire cutting and no need of a 2nd key inside the unit..

I have a Fortin kit from when I got the car, thinking on upgrading to the one I mentioned, mainly for the 3x lock button to start the car from ur Audi fob.

    Thank you!

If no 2nd key inside the unit is needed, the Fortin sounds like a great option for our S4's. A Quick google shows that aside from this module, the only other thing needed is a Fortin Flashlink usb cable to update the programming.. anyone else can attest to how easy the install is and not needing a 2nd key? Thanks!

Just finished installing a Fortin Evo One on my b8.5 manual with MyCar connectivity. Works very well and relatively easy install (had to connect a total of three wires).

Yup don’t need to sacrifice a key. The mycar subscription lets me start the car from anywhere in North America with my phone.

Highly recommended any questions let me know.

What year vehicle? Notice that Fortin only goes up to year 2014 without having to sacrifice a key. Wondering if us with a 2015 or 2016 can get away with it too

    Also which Fortin?
Evo One VWT3 or Evo One AUDT1?

Evo One AUDT1 is supposed to come with the plug and play harness for B8/B8.5. I believe the immobilizer is different in the 15/16, which is why a key is required for +15MY. If I remember right, you were able to sacrifice the valet key(without case) instead of the actual fob.

I just received my EVO-AUDT1 kit yesterday but getting the flash link tomorrow (thursday). From what I can see online you need the 3 wires spliced in (brake, can low, can high) and the rest the T-harness connects into. I think the EVO-AUDT1 can get away without a key IF you buy the flash link. I don't really see the point in using a key since you are literally leaving the key in the ignition in your car (seems pretty unsecure to me).
If you get the flash link, there is a programming procedure that records data from your car, then u take the unit and connect to Fortin servers (through flash link) and it emulates your key being in the car when a remote start is signaled.
Again, all of this is apparently and supposedly....I plan on installing it either Friday or Saturday.
Call me crazy but I think I am going to return the flash link to amazon after I use it for 5 minutes.....kinda stupid that Fortin even sells it like that. They should just offer a rental for $10
If you want to use the flash link I can just keep it from amazon and we can split it if you want, $20 from you and $20 from me. Shipping should be dirt cheap because its pretty small. LMK
I will keep you updated if it works. FYI I also have a 2011 S4, push button start if that matters

    Mine is a 2013.

Looks like if you've got a 2015/2016, its a more difficult install as there is no harness available and you do sacrifice a key. You can ask Fortin on their site though to be sure, they are very responsive. Its still doable though.

You have no clue what you're talking about and probably should not be undertaking this.

They have figured out how to debug the security protocol on some vehicles and create a 'fake' key that gets programmed into the 'decyrptor'. When it goes to start your car, it sends a signal to the ignition switch saying HEY THERE"S A KEY HERE and it starts the car.

You can't do it without the flash link. The flash link is used to program the device, set options, and program the fake key. You can pick up a flash link for 20 bucks. If you're too cheap to blow 20-40 bucks, then go buy a hyundai.

When you buy the device they give you a code to access WireColor.com which is very helpful and shows you all the wires you'll need and where they are located. For a B8.5 the can hi/can low is available at the steering column or behind the side kick panel where the hood latch is. Then you'll need to tap into the brake line if DSG or a wire in the engine bay for a Clutch Bypass. If you're using the audi harness, then thats it. If you're not there are plenty more thats needed.

The hardest part is taking apart the interior to get at the cables you need. Its not difficult but takes time and you really have to be careful as its fairly easy to break the interior parts when pulling stuff apart. I had already installed one in our Q5 so I knew what I was getting into, the S4 was almost the same, with the keyport being a bit different. Theres a couple of good how to's for installing in Q5's on youtube that 95% of will apply to when doing an S4.

I stated that I'm not an expert and haven't installed it yet, just from what I found online.
Your response is basically exactly what I said minus the part about the key being in the car....if ur too dumb to read or comprehend just go back to 1st grade

Took the suggestions and got my Fortin-Audt1 and the Flasklink Cable. Was gonna install today but the flashlight wasn’t able to install firmware 60.08 for my Audi 2011 s4, after reattempting multiple times, it says I can’t flash this anymore and essentially the module is locked so now I’m waiting on Fortin’s customer service to unlock it based off serial number. Let me make sure I’m doing this right: I should be preflashing the Evo module with all the settings I want BEFORE installing the harness and module right? Then after a certain step, unplugging and hooking it back up to the PC for decryptor to learn the immobilized bypass.

    Thanks

Yup you're doing it right. Their instructions are a bit overwhelming and not entirely clear.

Step 1 - make sure the firmware for your flashlink is the most current. You can check it using the flashlink manager software.
Step 2- setup up the brain (evo-one/evo-all) using the flashlink and the manager software.
Step 3 - connect the brain to your car and follow the steps for the decryption process.
Step 4 - unplug the brain from your car and back onto the flashlink, and run the decyrption software. This step takes a few mins to replicate your key and program the brain.
Step 5 - hook back up to the car and give it a test.

Damn that sucks, hopefully they can help you out asap.
Yes your describing it correctly. I just got mine installed today.
First connect to computer and fill out your specific vehicle and setup.
Second went to vehicle and grabbed the data the unit needs.
Third, went back to computer and connected to fortin servers.

Only lil hick-up I ran into was when I installed the unit I moved the seat way back, when I remote started the seat would automatically go back into that position. I turned off seat adjustment per key but might be able to get it to work correctly with a little messing around.

Also note the harness is pretty large so try to keep it wrapped up and neat when installing.

Hm...so the Fortin-Audt1 purchased new off ebay was hardware 6(manufacturered 1/2019) and according to Fortin's support page, I need hardware 7 for my 2011 S4. They said that's why I was not seeing firmware 60.08 available to be flashed on the module. Curious if that means any other users who also has a similiar year Audi S4 would not be able to use hardware 6 to install succesfully, or if there's an older firmware, (ex. 60.02) for hardware 6 that would've worked. A little confused but they said they'll see if there's a new firmware that could be released for hardware 6. Ehh...

Update: got another Evo-Audt1 kit, this time it was Hardware 7, and it flashed to firmware 60.08 properly. The hardest part of the job was getting to the back of the keyport plug as there was a triple square that needed to be removed under the odometer, behind the steering column that I didnt see and was trying to unplug the back of the keyport blind. Almost directly above the wiper blade stalk. After removing that and some 10mm nuts(I believe) i was able to wiggle the entire keyport out.

Aside from the t-harness, I used T-Taps and spliced into the twisted cable (can-high and can-low) on the steering column and t-tapped into the brake line. Plugged everything back up, followed programming steps and all good.

Did not need to sacrifice a keyfob, after connecting everything I was able to use Decryptor to bypass immobilizer, replug and even paired RF642 keyfob to extend the range.

I tucked the wiring and kit directly behind the bracket that was held down by a triple square.

Took about 3 hours start to stop, would probably be able to finish this in an hour or less knowing how to remove the keyport now.

Thank you guys for the info!

What gage are the wires you used the t-taps on?
