    B8 (NOT 8.5!!!) Rear Diffuser - options?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Guys,

Been enjoying my relative problem-free 2012 S4 for just about a year, and the only thing that still bugs me is that lame stock rear diffuser.

Other than ECS - are there any other options out there? I saw Carbon Imports here in Canada, but having trouble finding any kind of recent reviews. Want to avoid AliExpress if I can, but even there it seems almost impossible to find. "Yes it fits B8/8.5 S4!" Sigh.....

    Any leads would be appreciated!

Are A4-S-line and S4 the same rear end? I've seen a lot of lame A4 ones... figuring out what fits is impossible with overseas sellers!

Supposedly ECS is coming out with a gloss black (non-carbon) one for the B8s. I'd buy that in a heartbeat, assuming the price point of $250 is the same as the B8.5 one. But I've been hearing about this for months now, and it hasn't materialized yet. So if/when I lose my patience, I'm looking to go with the Carbon Imports diffuser:

I ordered a rear diffuser from carbon imports about 8 weeks ago and it just shipped. I can send some pictures once it comes in, if you’re interested

We don't have many options, in my opinion all the available diffusers are either way too expensive, way too over designed and/or both. I would suggest to paint it or plastidip it as I did; not great, but better than stock.

I'll post a thread about it soon, it just came today and I'll be installing it in the next day or two. There's a couple imperfections in the clear coat but you can't see them unless you're really looking for them

Are rear diffusers easy to install? I've been interested in this as well. I like the ECS one, but it's a bit too aggressive. The trunk lip looks ok as well.

They should be relatively easy since there's only a few clips and 3 screws to mount them

I think removing the factory diffuser might take more finesse tbh

Wow that carbon imports diffuser is beautiful. Would much rather that over the ECS. Seems like they got some inspo from Enlaes.

I'm starting to think Carbon Imports just literally imports the ones from AliExpress...

    honestly wouldn't be surprised but..
    1) the inside of the diffuser looks less messy and more put together compared to the aliexpress pictures
    2) there's no brake/fog light on the carbonimports diffuser-- the aliexpress ones look a tad tacky imo

at the end of the day, all of these diffusers are made in china LOL

It depends what chinese vendors they get it from. Obviously and just like any other place around the world, you have your places that do a better job than others.

I would go to ebay. So far, ebay has been good. I haven't had any bad experiences. I bought cf mirror cover for my b8.5 s5 and they look nice. They are heavier vs OEM. Its obvious not 100% cf. Its cf overlay on top of the plastic mirror caps. But for $126, I dont mind. I assume if it was 100% cf I'm sure I would pay double that. Or more

That sucks imo. They should check before shipping it. Unless they have it shipped directly from their importers.

pretty sure they have it shipped directly from their importers

Personally, I dont mind it since it’s about half the price of the discontinued enlaes/agency power one but then again, carbon imports is still more expensive than aliexpress/ebay

I was in similar predicament as you and just today, I decided to bite the bullet and just order the ECS carbon diffuser. My plan was to hold off and purchase some other things first (probably things I actually needed) and wait but I called ECS to see how many they had on hand. They told me that there were only 15 left and that they have sold 4 in past several days and once they are unavailable it can take like 4-6 months to restock. So I figured the other shit I actually need, can wait! lol

So i executed an order for the carbon imports B8 diffuser a few weeks ago, after an email exchange with them (staff named Nave) where they confirmed stock availability.

To date, zero updates on the actual shipment (despite their confirmation of stock availability prior), slow email replies or unanswered emails AFTER I executed the order...

Just filed a claim via paypal over the weekend.
    heads up folks.

Well, i guess thats why i reached out to ask if the item was in stock before i executed the order.
Shouldnt take a few weeks to ship out an item thats in stock...unless they were manufacturing it upon any orders (i doubt it)

The problem with carbon imports is that their “not as common” stuff usually just comes from China. That explains the weeks it takes to get to them, JUST so they can ship it to you.
