Can't get to display oil level in MMI (15 S5)

Here and there I checked the oil level in my MMI. Discovered a small oil puddle about 20" inside of front wheel. So, I wanted to check oil level in MMI. I seem to caught in some cycle with:
engine must be off, but ignition on, while engine is warm.

I drive car for 10 -30 minutes. Park, switch off engine then put key in ignition to turn on car. I get the message that I need to wait 2 minutes after running car.

I know I used to get into oil level much easier. But likely user error. Any tips are welcome.

I just leave the car running but in Park mode for about 2 minutes and you should be able to see the oil level...

    Try this:

    1. open up the hood.
    2. turn the car on, not engine.
    3. Go to MMI's oil level screen and wait for a minute or two.

That's how my car works. Don't know why, but if the hood is closed the MMI would never show the oil level. But if I do as described above, the MMI would show the oil level. And for some reason, the dash center screen would also show the oil level.

Check your oil filter housing for a leak.

    Right from the owner's manual

    Read oil level
    • Park your vehicle so that it is horizonta lly level.
    • Shut the engine off when it is at operating tem-
    perature.
    • Switch only the ignition back on.
    • Wait approx. two minutes.
    • Select: Function button ~IC~A~R~I > Oil level. Or
    • Se lect: Funct ion button ICARI > Car systems*
control button > Servicing & checks > Oil level.
    • Read the oil level in the MMI* Display
r:::>fig. 162. Add engine oil if t he bar of the oil
level indicator is near "min" r:::>page 195

ok. I got in after waiting 2 minutes after engine is warm and ignition on. Now, the display always shows oil level even if car is running or any cycle.
As a result of this it appears that I have max oil level. This is strange as well, as I am used to some oil loss (burn) over time.

@ usmcfieldmp: the oil filter housing seems clean at bottom.

Okay. Mine was cracked when I bought it. Created an awful mess around the area you're speaking of.

How many miles and is it DSG? The only other time I've had leaks in that area, it was something DSG related at ~72k miles (right before the scheduled DSG fluid change), but it wouldn't only do it after I used Launch Control. I figured I was just overheating the old fluid, but I haven't tested that theory since changing the fluid, and I also haven't had any more leaks.

I have 28k miles. It is a 15, it has DSG.

P.S. after this initial cycle, the oil display always displays, no matter engine cold or running.

Oh snap. That's some low mileage.

And my oil display does that too. Once I got it to show once... it seems to always display now. Maybe once every month or so it'll ask me to do it again.

Basically, the oil level display is reset each time you open your hood.
