Who is keeping their RS7 for the long haul?

Hi, I recently sold my daily A7 diesel for a diesel SUV and have been debating what "fun" car to get for the long haul. I am all over the place, CTS-V, RS7, 911, etc. I keep coming back to the RS7, something about the car speaks to me.

That said there are a lot for sale, why does it seem that on the surface many people don't seem to want to keep these cars over the long haul? Is it maybe that I am looking at 2016+ that are just coming out of warranty and this is the class of owners that are moving on, which is skewing my perspective?

Effectively I am trying to understand if there is something I am overlooking about these cars? Do people get bored of them?

OK had mine since 2014, at the time of purchase, it was a 4 year acquisition, thought Id move onto a new(er) model or look what is available around 2018. For me there is nothing I can replace it with at the moment. Am looking at the RS6 and maybe the E tron GT sport when it arrives. Until then I just can bear to let it go. I drive it everyday and still get the same thrill I did when first purchased.

Have you test driven one ?

I'd say you don't see many high mileage ones as people fear losing value with a high mileage car. They already depreciate like mad and higher mileage doesn't help on top of that.

Owning an Audi out of warranty is like banging a hooker without a rubber. I have a year of CPO warranty then 2 more years of Audi extended warranty so I'm covered, but I could see many people not enjoying the car as much after the warranty kicks, but you gotta pay to play with these cars. If that scares you then maybe reconsider an RS.

I just rolled 50K miles on mine and plan on keeping it for the foreseeable future. The paint and interior are in pristine condition. Mechanically there's nothing wrong with it. A creak or rattle here and there but no big deal. I don't "feel" like it has that many miles so it's hard to want for something else, especially when the new RS's are getting spanked by everything else that is coming out.

Have to agree with the above comments. Briefly considered the new RS6 and I drove a new AMG E63S, but for $120-130k I'd rather go with a 911 GT3 which is what I'll probably do. Even then I'm still gonna try to keep the RS7.

Find one with all the options you want. Don't settle. That's one of the reasons I'm still content with mine after 2+ years of ownership.

I have 18k on my 2017 RS7 and hope to keep it for a long time. Just take care of the oil screen early before turbos get damaged and you should hopefully be good for the long term.

2017 rs7 with 28k miles. Only drive it once a or twice a week for a couple hours. Puts a smile on my face everytime and couldn't imagine what I'd replace it with. Anything faster is a large jump, and anything in its class would be pretty much a lateral move. Therefore, I see myself keeping it for a long time.

mine just went over 40k miles, still will get something in a year or two. Love the looks of the new rs7, don't know if I can stay in the 7 body style for this many years. Will consider the rsq8.

Long haul, I've had my 2014 for 4 years now and have 91364 miles on the odometer and it still nice to look at and fun to drive, I've had to replace the drive shift and when doing so I also added a driveshaft loop, Red Star Cat less downpipes, and Stage II Boost Dynamic tune, all together makes a very fun 10 sec quarter mile (can be) daily driver that get lots of attention while being driven or sitting in a parking spot

    I just bought a 2016 rs7 with 28k miles on it. I have already added 2k miles and a tune :)

I have had a wide range of cars, and can tell you this seems to be one of the best performance oriented daily drivers you can get for the money. My plan will be to keep this for a while and get a small sports car for the track.

I daily mine 100 miles a day...just turned 52,500 miles....never misses a beat and until I can figure what I can replace it with, she stays....fully stock 605hp, carbon ceramics are the only thing that in long term might have me bail before that brake job.....

I daily mine too and kept it stock for a year. Go at least DS1 Stage 1. Night and day. Car feels gutless if I put it back to stock (in the low/mid range especially). Just nudging you. I'm also an RS7 Performance and was at the 605hp setup.

Yeah mine was a 2018 CPO RS7 Performance with warranty until roughly same time frame (early original sale date in 2017). Life's too short and I figured 12 months of ownership was a good trial run to see how the car behaved before splurging. I took mine in for one of it's yearly service and had if flashed back to stock. Dealer never said a word just said yup car looks good.
