Rear seat pass through door won’t latch

I have the cold weather package and after using the rear seat pass through located in the rear arm rest, I can’t get the latches to close and secure the arm rest unit. Although I can separate the arm rest from the rear plastic pass through door, the entire unit won’t latch closed. Any advice on dismantling the part/trouble shooting? I’ve tried locking/unlocking, jimmied it with a flat head, slammed it shut, banged it with my hand, etc. seems as though the latches on the arm rest are stuck and won’t release. They do travel very slightly when I pull the open level from the rear seats (recessing back in to the arm rest), but won’t release fully to latch

I have the same exact issue first time using it on my '18 RS3. Embarrassing to see something so simple fail so easily the first time you touch it. Guess it's back to the dealer.
