2003 Audi A6 Parts Swap From 2001 AR

I got to looking. I have a 2001 AR 2.7tt same color code as my 2003 A6 Quattro 2.7tt I measured the doors and whatnot. And they are the exact same size. And I like smooth door skin over the A6 with trim down the center. Can those doors swap with each other? They look identical. Both C5 chassis. I know the headlights and front fenders, and bumpers are different. But the doors look the same. Anyone know if they are interchangeable? I know seats and interior are. As well as interior door panels/cards. I'm definitely swapping seats. The ARs interior is flawless. And the A6 is 8 outta 10. But the doors are main concern. I've searched the net and multiple Audi forums. But to no avail. I'd rather know for sure instead of removing 4 doors to only find out they dont fit.

Yes they fit. People have done allroad doors for the very same reason (no beltline trim)

It's to the point where all the problems just run together in a spider web of disappointment and mush.

So I've started the door swap. I have one door removed from the AR so far. I am not pulling the plugs clear out a the car. I am leaving that. And unhooking the plugs from the doors. And pulling then out of the door. Starting with rears first. Drivers side rear first removal. As I started this project it didnt even dawn on me. The keys to unlock the car will have to be for the AR. And A6 for ignition. Bc the lock cylinder is different. So I will have to figure out how to remove and swap them. So I have the A6 lock cylinders in the AR doors.

It took roughly 25 minutes to remove the door card and door. So this hopefully should be a quick project. Minus the lock cylinders in the front door. Anyone have any info on removing them to swap them out. I need the A6 cylinder in the AR door. I am gonna lose the rear window shades from the A6 door. But they arent used anyway.

By the way, you can swap door cards and retain the shades. You will have to drill two tiny holes on top of the door frame and transfer the hardware from the old door to the new door for the shades to hold on. Although I know you said they are not being used, but doesn't hurt to make it work on the replacement door

Yeah I got all 4 doors removed from the AR and got the rear two top part and glass removed from the bottom part of the door. So they are ready to swap over the A6 tops to the AR bottoms. And yeah I'm keeping the A6 door cards. They're identical to the AR door cards minus the shades. But the A6 has the rear window shade too. So I'm gonna keep the shades on the rear doors too. So I now have a set of perfect door cards for sale.

Haha, I picked up a replacement door for the rear driver side on my A6 Avant (the door shell is the same color code but has a few minor dings, I should be able to live with), I don't plan to swap windows and window regulators, however, I will swap the door cards just to retain the window shades feature. Best thing about the C5 platform is that the speakers are built into the door card. I don't have a Bose system, just factory stock Audi Symphony; shouldn't be a problem though
