Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open - P2004, P2005. Anyidea why?

So I randomly threw these 2 codes as I sat idle for about 2 mins in a parking space.

I had some work done on the S4 back in March because the Thermostat went bad:
    - Thermostat changed
    - PCV kit installed/changed
    - New Water Pump Installed
    - Valve Cover Gaskets changed
    - Supercharger serviced

My mechanic friend had some issues with the intake runners being left open because first time out he didnt install it back together correctly. So the things were left open. I figured that out with him surfing here thankfully, cause we would have been messing around for hours if we didnt lol.

ANyway, this code popped up, so do you think the past issue had something to do with it?

I erased it and the car is back to normal and hasn't popped up. Been pushing the hell out of it (really nice out), and haven't had it come back at all. Car isn't running like it's stuck open too so I wonder if it was a fluke?

My buddy said it could just be that I've had the car sitting for a while (only drive it every 5 days or so since I work from home with all this pandemic crap).

He said this is common on vdubs which he used to work on for VW.

    What are ya'lls thoughts?

Might've been a stored code from before you fixed the problem. The flaps should rest against the inboard edge of the port dividers; allowing them to open fully. If you let them lay on top/the outboard edge of the port dividers, then they can't open. You've learned all this, by the sounds of it. Just reiterating.

Clear codes and hope they don't come back.

When there is no vacuum in the lines that attach to the actuators the runners are closed, so you get codes P2006 and P2007 when a vacuum line is disconnected or an actuator fails. These are also the codes that come up when the supercharger is reinstalled with the runners stuck in the wrong position. So I would not think the previous work is related. Your N316 control valve might me acting up, or it could be a random glitch. If it pops up again I can try to get you some service manual info.

Since you already addressed the flaps, I'd say clear codes and see if it happens again. If so may be the tubes reversed to diaphragm.... As above is noting

Did you ever find the root cause of this?

Dear all, I wanted to drop a note here because recently, a mechanic replaced my waterpump and thermostat due to a coolant leak. Afterwards, he reported I was getting P2005 and P2006 error codes, claiming my intake manifold needs to be replaced. However according to my research, P2005 means "stuck open" and P2006 means "stuck closed" which are contradictory....but the biggest part that makes me feel it's not a coincidence is this very thread, where the original poster Bolivianfuego indicated that incorrectly reassembling the car can result in the intake manifolds getting stuck.

If anyone has time, I would really appreciate it if you could check out the details of my related issue on this thread: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...6#post14738496

I'm trying to better understand how I can prove the intake manifold flaps are actually working and that he probably installed it wrong, or diagnose that it really is a crazy coincidence that the intake manifold flaps went bad immediately after my repair.
