    Audi allroad spare tire

Trying to figure out how my spare tire section works. First, I don't see the air pump anywhere for the space saver tire (nor do I even see a place for it to go). Second, unlike every other A4/allroad spare tire well, I don't have foam sections for my tools; mine is just a plastic shielding on the bottom of the battery under the tire (refer to photos). My tools are in a separate compartment right behind the seats. Has anyone seen this (I haven't found anything online about it). How would I remove this plastic for when I eventually have to do a battery change? And most importantly, where is my air pump and if it is missing, where should it go?

EDIT: I've found out with that plastic surround is on the bottom of the battery. It seems to the subwoofer. I couldn't find anything in the shop manual about where the air compressor goes.

I couldn't find anything about it online. I don't think there's enough space for it to be inflated plus, its a space-saver tire. Why give a space-saver but require it to be inflated?

    Spare should be aired up.
Just go air up your spare.
Also that’s not the stock spare. Most likely it’s the wrong size which is causing some figment issues.

    The stock A4 sedan/avant spare is a T125/70 R19 100M on 19x4.0 ET29 rim.
The stock A4 allroad spare is a 175/55 R19 on 19x6.0 ET36 rim. It also has the text "folding tire". It appears, best that can be made out from the first pic, that's the correct tire.

We see the air compressor is #3, tire sealant is #4.
    https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...or/8p0012615a/

#18 is the jack holder north of the battery, I take it #5 (tow hitch holder) what would go in the big hole to the west of the battery.
The question is where does #19, the air compressor holder, mount? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tire-Compre...-/132918356964

If you bought it used, have no expectation that it's still in the car unless you've visually seen it.

In the Q5, apparently it's behind the left side cover. Might check there.

Good find however it doesn’t seem to be there for the allroad.

wow, thanks smac i Stand corrected. Maybe we need to have a separate b8.5 forum. There are obviously differences including e-85 compatibility, so when someone asks a question they would get the correct info. I would never have suspected that they would change the spare configuration between my b8 avant and the allroad. and his "plastic housing" is similar to the shape of my Bang & olfusen sub woofer i would bet he could put a b8 spare in there without issue. I just pressurized mine to 65 psi as i got new tire the other day and when i checked the spare it was only at 10 psi. will grab a pic and attach later.

It's different for the allroad and Q5 due to the larger overall diameter of their tires (+1" in the case of the allroad), would be my best guess. The sedan and avant have the same spare, for B8.0 and B8.5.

Yeah, I check the spare when I check the other tires now. The one time I had to use it, it was flat; luckily I was at a gas station.

Re the subwoofer, the pics are so dark I can't make out anything. All US A4s have the standard or B&O sound system, so always with the subwoofer. In the sedan, it goes on the rear deck, for the wagon it goes around the battery (east, south, west; with the jack holder taking up the north). For wagons without the 9VD or 9VK audio (and all sedans), then the tool kit is where the subwoofer is. Thus why US wagons always have the tool kit in the cargo floor next to the seats.

It looks like the air compressor, along with the can of "fix-a-flat", is a normal piece if the vehicle has PR 1G8 ("breakdown kit"), not just if you have the folding spare tire.
Curiously, there are three different jacks for the B8.0 sedan/avant: https://audi.7zap.com/en/usa/audi+a4...6/0/011-11010/

A B8 sedan will have the tool tray (#1), which will hold either the jack (designated by PR 1S1,1S3,1S4 and implied by PR 1G5) and/or the air compressor (part of PR 1G8).
A B8 avant will have the tools in the tool box in the cargo floor, and the jack or air compressor will be in the plastic holder north of the battery:
Without 1G8, we get the normal plastic holder I'm familiar with: https://wolfautoparts.com/jack-w-bra...85-292576.html
With 1G8, we get a combo holder for the jack and the air compressor: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/AUDI-A4-Towi...-/112504499960

So on the B8 avant, it's an either or, both pieces are held in the same location. But on the B8 allroad, we start by seeing the same, but then we realize that with PR 3F1 (the folding spare), we don't get the jack/compressor combo part like in an avant (which never has the folding spare). Instead, we get the normal jack only holder above the battery, and a second holder for the air compressor, which must be somewhere.

    Pics of the holder:
    https://archiwum.allegro.pl/oferta/a...537566237.html
    https://emg.parts/product/audi-a4-al...sor-8k9012625/

But nothing that implies where it mounts.
The owner's manual says nothing? Did you check behind the right side cover? It's absurd that Audi VIN walls the owner's manuals.
But again, if you didn't buy it new, I wouldn't be shocked to find it walked off at some point while passing through hands.

You should probably ask in the B8 allroad specific forum over on audiworld. Or reword the thread title so the other A4 allroad owners realize this thread is about them. The title doesn't draw in the allroad aspect at all (though it might not have been clear this is an allroad specific point when you made the thread).

Smac, thanks for the info. Hopefully we are closer to finding this out. I'll reword this thread correctly since it obviously isn't well described. I checked both sidewalls, the panel on the right side houses all my fuses and the gas door release cable, no space for an air compressor that I could see anyway.

I'll also go ahead and post this in audiworld tomorrow.

    EDIT:

Can't seem to find any options to edit thread title? Is this disabled for us normal users?

Compressor should be under the spare, on the passenger side.
