Am new to this forum and so am not even sure I'm posting this question to the right area, but here goes.
To make a long story short, I bought a used 2013 A3 a few months ago. The warmer the weather got, the more odd and unusual the car smelled, especially through the air vents. Whatever the smell was, it wasn't fresh.
I looked online and did the "normal" things suggested like change the air cabin filter. Didn't get rid of this odd smell.
I then bought both Lysol and Ozium to spray into the air intake vents outside of the car, in the inside car vents, and under the glove compartment. Smelled better for a day or so, but the old smell soon came back.
I did this spraying process 2 - 3 times.
The bad news? After this last set of spraying last week, my radio went out. I wonder if I am somehow responsible for this - I wonder if where I sprayed into the two air vents above the radio, some drippage may have occurred and I shorted out either a wire to the radio or the radio itself.
That said, I am going to put in another radio and so here's my question to those of you who know your Audi's inside and out:
Could the Lysol or Ozium spray have accidentally gotten to the radio? Why I'd like to know is because, when I get a new radio installed - and if it works - I don't want to accidentally repeat the same mistake, seeing that I still don't have a lasting "fresh air" smell in the car. I still have another can of Lysol on hand I've considered using to continue to try to freshen up the smell, but won't use if you Audi folks in this forum don't recommend it.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts, insights, etc. It's been a bit frustrating both with the car smelling and now with the radio going out. Otherwise, it's a beautiful A3. ;-)
