Does anyone else find it odd that they don’t simply offer the 21” RS Design (the standard wheel in Canada) with the 10.5” width as an option for winter use? I had a few ideas why it might not work, then I saw the 22” package...

Was tempted to go with the standard 21 and use them for winters but the black optics package were tied the 22” wheels in it.

I too wished they would just use that standard 21 for winters....

Parts manager just put in the order for my OEM winter set. It's the 22" set, unfortunately, as it doesn't seem the US can order the 21" right now. I'm not even entirely sure what color they are, but ASSuming the black set that's on the German website. Total with MA tax came to $4568.75. Hated to pull the trigger this early when my car probably won't get here for at least another two to three months, but don't want to be stranded on summer tires during winter in MA.

Had the same worry, but ordering 22" rubber and mounting on my summer wheels was going to be my fall back plan.

I dont understand why they wont offer the 21 inch set. Its always best to downsize the wheel and go with thicker profile tire for winter.

think once the 2021 wheel fitment databases are updated with the RS6 many 21" options will emerge. thats my hope, at least. seems my eta still up in the air a bit.

the downsized winter set ups from the factory have the wheels tucked in ridiculous amounts. gauging by the 245/40 size, the same will happen on the OEM 21 set.

installed a set on our RS5 and i refused to pick up the car until they took them off. anything gained from the wider stance is lost, and then some.

DRA Series spacers from H&R. Bolt on the hub.
I used them on the Macan rears and they worked great. No need for longer bolts is nice, but they did corrode a bit after five winters. But nothing bad enough to make them stick to the hub.

    20 - 45 mm widths available

Lots of 21x10 or 10.5. Rims are available around the et40 mark. So add the 20 and it’s right there with the stock et19.

    I’m not sure I follow.

If I understand things (and that’d be a first), Audi sells two versions of the RS Dynamic wheels (with identical side appearance)
    - the 21” standard wheels are 10.5”. If we used these for winters, I don’t see why tuck in would be an issue.
    - the winter OEM package with 21” uses a different 8” width, hence the tuck in issue you correctly mention.

I will see if I can find the ET on the 21” x 10.5”.

You are correct. The 21 x 10.5 is et19, just like the 22...so tuck would not be an issue. The tucked look comes from the 21 x 8.5 winter wheel (which is also et19, but tucked due to smaller width) .

The ones that come in the package are the narrower 8” width running a 245 cross section tire. This will tuck in well inside the fenders.

If you put winters on the standard 21x10.5 wheels, there will be no issues.

I went with the 22" OEM Matte Titanium wheel with Pirelli P Zero Winters (285/30/22). Ready for cold weather driving in early December.

Those will be great for winter, and look nice too.

In Canada that set would be huge $$$ from the dealership.

Would you mind letting me know where you ordered from and what the price is? DM me if you’d rather not post. Also, I assume the set included TPMS?

    Many thanks

So, you were quoted $4,568 for 22" OEM wheels and tires? That seems like a reasonable price. Do you know what tires come with it and does it include TPMS?

It's one of these- the US is only getting one right now and PM was unsure which one. I just ordered so that I'd have something to put on the car- I need winters until about late April here in MA, so really hoping the car arrives before that! Hoping for the black "structure" design though.

I'd really like to run a 20" for winter. Seems like not possible given the size of the calipers. I may reach out to Forgeline to see if they can make me a set of GA1R in 21" assuming 20 doesn't work.

This is why I haven't bought anything yet. I'm hoping - while realizing how much of a long shot it is - that 20s will fit. Until it's proven they don't, I'll hold off buying and plan to use the extras 21s I have with spacers.

What do you guys think about these 21 inch Audi OEM wheels for the 2020 A7/S7 which should fit the RS7 for winter? Its on sale for 807 per rim

I think you’ll need to run a pretty significant spacer. The 10.5 wheels are ET19 I believe, so these would be sunken by 11mm plus 50% (10.5-8.5 in) = 36 mm. Pretty big deal, if I’ve done my math right.

Yeah I overlooked that part. My fault. It will be a bit too sunken for the wider RS7.. The search continues! : )

This is a winter 20” on 420mm ceramic brake package. Its tight.
Edit...the C8 actually has 440mm rotors. I’d say zero chance a 20” fits now. It would be clearance in the 1mm to zero range.

Take that picture and subtract 10 more mm. Insane size.

Thats not too bad, looks like it should not be an issue for the newer RS6 and RS7. I am leaning towards getting the 20s instead.

Just got some information on a Continental option in 22 inch for the RS6. They are AO tires.

Should be available to purchase in October.

Yes but like the picture above. Its a 2mm clearance. So close that I do not feel comfortable offering or even saying what was the spec of the wheel.
We will offer 21 or 22inch options in Bimoto Forged hopefully end of this year/beginning of 2021.

Most of our clients at the moment have ordered Vossen and BBS, with some waiting for HRE.

A couple of them choosing to go with BBS CH-R II as their winter options.

I know I should have gotten a 40 sidewall, but for the price, I had to do it. $525 shipped to my door? Yes please.

I'm curious - 2mm from the face of the wheels (spokes) or from the outer rim? In the picture above, the gap between the caliper and the rim is pretty visible and certainly looks to be more than 2mm. Or is the 2mm gap from something other than the caliper (e.g. dust shield or something not visible)?

Best Solution Is Park The Car In Heated Garage

Why worry about winter set up as most of us do not live with snow for half the year. I have done all this before, and learned its much less stressful and cheaper to just park the beast in the heated garage on bad days. I have a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali that is my daily driver and loves the snow and winter salt.

Summer compound tires operating in temperatures lower than 7degrees Celsius loses its effectiveness. It’s the colder ground temp (and wet weather performance here in Vancouver) that I’m concerned about rather than real snow. I too would opt for my trucks of SUVs if snow and clearance was the issue.

Because many of us are using this car as our DD. Pretty simple, really.

Quattro in the snow is loads of fun. What my RS6 will experience fairly regularly, so dedicated snow tires are a must.
