I have not seen much on united motorsports tunes for the RS3. I've used them and been quite happy with them in the past for my Golf Rs, any thoughts on them for this platform?

I don’t have any info to share but am very curious as well. I have a UM ECU and Haldex tune on my Mk4 R32 and am very happy with those.

4-5 years ago when I was looking for a tune on my S3 I tried to look into the UM tunes but when I tried to look into their website I noticed that their website was always down. When you try to click on products for your car you would always get a little icon (orange road cone) that says: opps!! where are currently under construction!. That went on for months.

To make the history short, it is unacceptable that you can't have a website properly functioning. I don't care how good the tune is, as a customer I want to see prices, description and be able to properly navigate on a website menu. For that reason I don't recommend them and keep in mind that this was not a one time issue, it went on for months. I haven't even consider them for my RS3 now, I looked at proper companies with proper solid websites: APR, UNITRONIC, IE,EUROCODE,034,Burgermotorsports,Irozmotorsport. My .2c
8V RS3 [email protected] mph (ran a few 11.7s stock and ran 118+mph several times)
8Y RS3 k&N filter ran [email protected] (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)
    at 3100ft elevation

They’re a small outfit, but shouldn’t be an excuse at this point. I agree their website is lacking and I would much prefer it to be better.

That said would you prefer a high quality product and crappy website or the best website you’ve ever seen and a terrible product?

I do agree that from a marketing and business strategy standpoint you’re going to take a hit on sales by having a poorly designed or non-functioning website. But I completely disagree with the logic of picking a product based on quality of the website.

^^ I like a good tune off course but a decent company would have a website properly working. I am not doubting their quality tunes, from what I heard and read they seem to be a popular tuner/customer choice on the EA888 gen 3 engines. I am more into a good customer service though. I like big companies that put out the resources to reach out the customer, look at ECS tuning, Vividracing, rallysportdirect, they have live chats, good phone customer service and great great website inventory, I am just naming some of the companies I used in the past, they are not necessarily tuners.

As far is the UM tunes on the RS3, I'll be honest, I haven't seen much at all and I have been on this RS3 forum for 3 years, my gut tells me that they are not that popular (I am not saying they are bad though). I think they are popular on other engine platforms but not the leaders on the DAZA 2.5T.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your statement here.

You might be correct if the ONLY choices we had as customer were a high quality product/bad website compared to an amazing website/mediocre product but as we know that is not the case here. For this platform, we have at least a few that have great websites AND great products.

So since we have a choice of products with great support, website, and product your statement doesn't make sense to be honest.

Yea, agree with all this with the exception of liking big companies. I prefer to support smaller companies when I can, as long as they’re doing all the things you mention.

I’ve been looking for a while too and haven’t heard much of anything regarding UM and the RS3.

Read it again, it makes complete sense. It is as simple as I would not not make a decision on a product based on it’s website alone. If that’s how you want to buy your stuff, that’s your call.

Have stage 2 ecu, tcu and haldex all from UMS. They stand by there products and performance/gains have been great. If your working with a great shop, they should only recommend the best regardless of the website performance.

I think you need to brush up on your reading comprehension...

I agree with you and I get what you're saying. Simply put...do not buy a product JUST based on how their site looks. I get it.

My point was that blanket statement works well if we didn't have products from APR and Unitronic where BOTH have a proven track record of having great products for our cars AND have great working websites.

The main point is that UM doesn't have any excuse to have a poor site in today's day and age. We as consumers should expect better.

Sorry, man. I’m done talking with you. In your first post you say you disagree with my statement, in your second you say you agree with me. The rest of the stuff you’re bringing up has nothing to do with what I was saying. It contemplates a completely different scenario where products are equal, at which point you chose the one with a better site. Cool, I agree with that. Not what anyone was talking about.

(Also, my reading comprehension is just fine, thanks. Appreciate the “I’m a tough guy on the internet” comment.)

I've got the Apr tune, inlet, fmic, and intake. Tune has had multiple problems including cold weather cutoff problems on highway, they blamed plugs, spent $150 and cleaned nothing. Then after over a month of the car on garbage tune, they finally admitted it was a tune issue and sent update to fix. Next was inlet they released with bolts that were way too short and loosened requiring dealer visit to put new bolts on. Next is intake that has the dumbest method to attach to a bracket I've ever seen. I don't have the tcu tune, but multiple bad reviews on that. So while I like their website, it's been a very clunky experience with multiple products over 2 years.

Why does anyone that wants to tune their rs3 look anywhere but unitronic? Great service, great product, and factory support like no one else. And I mean nobody else supports their tune like unitronic. I’m always baffled by anyone talking about anybody else.

    Hello All,

Anybody running UM Haldex tune in their RS3. Please provide your feedback. Road course experience with UM Haldex tune would be great to know :) Thank you.

I run the UM Haldex tune. So far this season I have run at Palmer Motorsports, Watkins Glen, and New Jersey Motorsport's Lightning and Thunder tracks. I run in the advanced and instructor groups as a paid instructor (no students). I only ran 1 session at Palmer on my square street wheelset. All other sessions, and all the other tracks, were run on my track wheelset. The track front wheelset is 18x9.5 45mm Neuspeed RSE11R with 275/35 Toyo Proxes RR, and the rear is 18X9 45mm with 255/35 Toyo Proxes RR. There were never any issues with the UM Haldex tune, and I beat the crap out of the car. However the RS3 needs a rear LSD!!!

From what I’ve heard UM hasn’t really spent too much time with the RS3. So while they have a tune available that is likely good quality, I wouldn’t expect the same type of product you get from them on other platforms.
