Hi I’m sure this has been asked but before I purchase it I was wondering on others thoughts who have done the mod. Black Rs3 Grill or should I keep the stock black optics original s3 grill? Thanks

I'm not sure why you would ask other's opinions on how they like a specific look on your car. If you like it, why would you care if others like it? With that said, I personally like the S3's black optics grille much better than the RS3 black grille. The RS3 grille lacks "dimensions" - mostly a large flat piece somewhat like a mask on the front of the car. Perhaps it's fitting given the circumstances of COVID

Because I like the look of both and can’t decide.

I have a 2016 White S3 with black optics. I considered getting an RS honeycomb grill but ended up deciding not to. I like how the black optics grill looks and I don't have to worry about the parking sensors not working or malfunctioning because of the RS grill. If you do end up getting the RS grill get a good one. I've seen Audi cars with aftermarket RS grills that look cheap and bad. Also, you will have to remove the front bumper to install the grill.

I just purchased an RS3 style grill for my S3. I'll post pics next week when I get it on.

Unless you have an RS3, why imitate with the grille? Stock Black optics for the win imo

If you opt for the RS3 grill bk motorsports makes a solid product. I’m running their rs3 grill on my S3 and no issues with parking sensor and it looks great

I was on the fence about this for a while. I give the edge to the black optics grille for a couple reasons.

    1. You don’t have to paint the crash bar
    2. RS3 looks slightly out of place unless you have an RS3. The black optics grille ties in nicely with the whole black optics package.

Good choice. Use that money for something else like a rear diffuser, exhaust tips, etc.

I have a 2015 S3 in Glacier White. I ran that honeycomb RS3 grill for awhile and now switched to a black optics S3 grill. I like the black optics grill much better

If someone made a replica black optics grill I probably would have went that direction. Used ones are usually beat up and new ones are astronomical so I went with an aftermarket RS style.

I love my black optics grille. I do generally like the RS grilles, but I don't like it enough to want to spend $ and time swapping it. Additionally, I do think even a debadged RS3 grille would make me feel like I'm "trying" to imitate the higher-up car. That's just my opinion, I think it looks nice but I wouldn't do it personally.

Black optics seem to be the unicorn for s3s.... people love them and are always looking to scoop one up.... eBay actually has some BO LOOK. Or faux black optics grills. That’s how popular they’ve become

Thanks for all the feed back. Im deciding to make the change next year and do what one of the post suggested by using the money for a carbon fiber diffuser and Carbon fiber front lip spoiler.
