    3.0TFSI tuning/upgrade

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi
What are your expirences with tuning the 3.0 TFSI (CAJA) with Triptronis and Quattro drive?
Im thinking no parts exchanged just reprogramed ECU.
Seems to be adding about 100hp and 50Nm torqe with most tuners.
How would the transmission corb with the tuning? how about the engine?
And will I get fuel effincy in crusing area?

Welcome to AZ and the C6 forum. If you do a search, you will find quite a few posts about tuning the C6 platform. I myself went with EPL and find those guys to be the gold standard for tuning this motor.

I don’t know how much HP and TQ is added but it is significant (even better with a few gallons of E85) with just a simple stage 1 tune.

Most people run a reflash with little to zero issues, aside from a little more oil consumption, probably because of increased cylinder pressure.

Transmission holds up well, even though online you'll find mixed number on the 6HP19A's max torque rating depending on application.

Do they offer a 3.0t test pipe/"downpipe"? I can't remember who does, but they specify it fits everything except the C6 3.0t. wonder if it'd fit our car

Du you change gas or do you still run on 95oct with stage 1 ECU flash?
What about the transmission would I gain anything from tuning the TCU?

Most tuners offer a 91 and a 93 octane map. I have mine tuned for 93 since it's readily available where I'm at. There are no shops in the US that offer a tune for the ZF6 trans, although there is a tune available in europe from what I've heard around here. The main downsides of this transmission is its inability to hold revs and its slow shift times. It's a fairly reliable trans and I haven't heard of anyone blowing the torque converter. Even with the lack of a tcu tune, I've had a blast with just an EPL stage 1 tune, and I run 93 all the time with a couple gallons of e85 every few fill ups.

What Airfilter fits the 3.0 Tfsi? The only one I can find is a foam filter from Pipercross.
The filter looks like it´s the same as for the 2.8Fsi

Besides from the added oil consumption what are little issues?

As a direct result of the tune? None that come to mind. These engines handle the extra power pretty well. The S4 application can handle 500+ horsepower, and I haven't heard of any transmission issues popping up unlike the 7DCT in the S4.

Does anyone know if the inlet hose is the same on the A6 3.0tfsi as for S4 and S5?
It looks the same on pictures.
Found this one in silicone but seller doesn't know if it fits the A6...

I don't believe that's correct. It likely will not fit without modification, unfortunately. While it may mate with the TB, it won't line up properly with the stock airbox.

JHM is releasing a silicone pipe for the A6 soon. I'd recommend waiting on that, OP.

I have that one in my A6C6 3,0 Tfsi. It's not at direct fit. I had to trim it down a bit. Close to 2 inch on the filterside and maybe half inch on engine side.

    That's a hand on experience!
    Good to hear!
    What benefits did you get?
In the stock one I believe is resonated so I think there will be more engine growl from the intake?

So I had the car at the dyno today.
I have upgraded the SC pulley to 57mm
Changed the air filter to a Green filter in the stock filter box. I have taken out the damping material inside the box.
I have upgradet the intake hose and modified one from a S5 model.
The car is tuned to run RON 95 which is the most common gas here in Europe.
    The output was:
    411Hp and 524Nm
I also had the transmission tuned to higer clutch pressure and had the torque limitations raised and the speed limit removed.
I think he may have improved the shifting time as well but I forgot to ask.
I also asked to make the afr slightly leaner at cruising to improve the fuel economy.

Total budget all inclusive close to $1000

    I'm satisfied
Only thing I could have wished for was a dyno roll before I walnutblasted the inlet and after with the stock pulley.
I could feel the difference after the blasting and I could also feel the difference after changing the pulley but I have no dyno proof... Not that it matters but it would have been nice though! Nice work on the intake hose - might need to do that myself or see how much longer til JHM's is available. I know you posted one DIY but did you happen to shoot any pics/videos of the steps to take and put back on the supercharger ie how you drained coolant etc. If you used an existing video can you share a link to it?

I have made a video of how to pull the pulley without removing or putting the front in service mode.
Sorry for not showing the final installation. I got quite frustrated as I was to slow bringing it from the oven to the car so the last attempt with success was not recorded...
