    VagCom vs OBDeleven

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just found out that theres an alternative to vagcom called OBDeleven that basically works the same way, except you can use the device off your phone app as opposed to VagCom laptop. I need one or the other to service my car. Which is better with OBDeleven being $100 cheaper and more convenient or is it basically a simplified VagCom

OBD eleven is primarily for modifications. VCDS offers more advanced troubleshooting.

I've been using OBDeleven Pro for several years now (on an S5 and more recently an S7). I have been able to easily do any coding that I wanted to do with it so far.

If you are just using it for basic maintenance items and simple mods, ODBEleven Pro is the way to go......pretty sure you need an android phone or tablet however, unless they added an Apple App in the last few years. I wont spend the money on VagCom unless you really are going to get into long coding mods. My $.02

FWIW. I've been using OBDeleven pro for about a year on my B6 and now on my wife's [new to her] 2012 C7 prem+. It has the capabilities of VCDS when it comes to acheduled maintenace, pulling DTC's and long coding. Just like VCDS there is an entire forum for how use it to long code. I've been very pleased with their support and its ease of use. VCDS is great but at the price for one vin, I can get 3 OBDeleven Pro accounts and use it on any vin.

I don't need ads to do anything on my obdeleven pro, the price of the obdeleven vs vcds alone for just one vin is reason enough to go obd11

Price may not be relevant if someone plans to do more than just coding adjustments. VCDS offers much better troubleshooting tools (logging, sensor read-out, etc..) and vehicle specific error codes rather than generic error codes you get from mobile apps.

If you're not planning to fix your own car and/or be a long term enthusiast, that's probably irrelevant and OBD11 is likely the right choice.
