Apr coil packs actually make a difference!

So I went on a little rip before and after the coil packs. 0-60 was about the same. 1/4 was slightly better by .2 on average. But I had rather good starts .02 better 0
60'. Makes the power much smoother. Very suprised on how smooth it is actually. More intake noises. Exhaust might be a hair deeper.

I would say yes its a good investment. I would buy again. If you plan to go stage 2 I. Would definitely pick uo the apr coil packs

Buy products from a company that’s abandoning our platform? Ugh, no offense, but no thanks.

When did they decide to abandon the platform?

I guess they didn’t fully abandon it, but looks like stage 2 is gone.

Their hand was forced by the EPA.

They didn’t abandoned this platform, they stopped Stage II for all platforms because of environmental matters. And the ones that are still on the boat producing uncatted downpipes will recibe fines.

I don't believe APR makes the coil packs. They are a rebrand from MSD, which is also owned by Sentinel Capital Partners. Sentinel also owns APR, flowmaster, and a number of other brands.

Even better. MSD makes good ignition stuff.

So is it a .2 or .02 improvement?.There is a big difference between the two numbers, I am asking because you mentioned both. if you are getting 2 tenth drop in the 1/4 mile then I would say the coil packs are one of the best products for the money but if it is a .02 then is absolutely not worth even mentioning.
    8V RS3 11.703@117-118.94 mph (ran a few 11.7s stock and ran 118+mph several times)
    8Y RS3 k&N filter ran 11.60@120.62 (ran 11.6 5 times and trapped 120+ several times)
    at 3100ft elevation

Can you elaborate on the better noises? I am very tempted to buy the coil packs but I want transparent feedback. Your dragy times are very valuable, can you post the before and after? Thanks!

0-60 was .02 better then my last best time.

1/4 mile was .2 better then my last best. Dragy showed thay I had my best 60 foot launch as well.

Induction noises are more. I can hear more intake noise. Best I can describe it.

I can hear more blow off or diverter valve or flutter or whatever it is. Or I can hear it easier. Before I had to be at the right situation to really hear the flutter noises. Now I only need to be heavy in boost and lift. Its not dramatic but it is a noticeable noise.

I would not buy for the noise alone.

I drove the car for about 3 hours this morning with the wife. We just drove around pointlessly. The coil packs greatly improved the smoothness of the power delivery. I would same the smoothness is the best improvement.

Either way at 200$ I would recommend the upgrade. Going to order the coils for my wife's tts as well. She noted the smoth motor. Should make her motor ultra smooth.

I ordered from the apr site.

I think they were in my home town which is an hour from my location. Tracking shows that at least.

Gotcha, didn’t realize that. Unitronic is releasing their carb certified DP soon from what I hear.

I'm not a TT/TTS/TTRS owner but I really wanted to get the APR ignition coils for my Stage 2 S3. They were sold out everywhere so I ended up buying the RS3 coils. I'm curious if anyone has had RS3 coils and then switched over to the APR coils and noticed any differences. I had the RS3 coils and RS7 plugs (re-gapped to .026 as recommended by APR) installed a couple of months ago and the car feels good. The red color on the APR coils is cool but they won't be seen once the engine cover goes back on.

I just ordered a set of coil packs and NGK R7437-9 colder plugs and I will be doing my own testing whenever I have a chance. I have dragy so that is a good tool to compare the before and after.
