RS3 Carbon Fiber rear lip spoiler

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,

I recently came across Audi's OEM Carbon Fiber rear lip spoiler. It looks pretty good, but the only problem is I can't really justify $1100 for it.

Are there any members on here who have bought similar looking aftermarket CF rear lip spoilers for a cheaper price? Photos always appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

These are both genuine, carbon for a little less but still fairly pricey:

    Spoiler | Carbon Fiber (Sedan)

Something a little different, not carbon but a bigger gloss black lip spoiler:

    Spoiler | A3, S3, RS3 Gloss Black (Sedan)

Check different Audi dealer parts department sites. I purchased an OEM carbon spoiler from Audi Nyack's parts site for $699 earlier this year. They currently have one for $793. Here is a link for example: https://parts.audinyack.com/p/Audi_2...71645A3Q0.html

Currently both spoilers are just a few days from shipping from info I see. I'm considering doing the same gloss black on the S5 Sportback project, nice little contrast but not full on carbon.

Curious what your objection is. It’s just 3M red (automotive) tape which is the same thing holding on your OEM spoiler. If it makes you feel any better mine’s been on for over a year and is just as stable as the day I installed it. It’s plenty strong for the job but comes off the car without any damage if you change your mind.

    No, it's not

When installing Audi suggests using Adhesion Pack (part# D-172-200-A2)

Holy cow, first time I’ve seen that. Ok I get your reaction then. No thanks. When I took my OEM S3 spoiler off it was just the 3M under there and that’s all I used on the CF replacement. I wouldn’t put all that stuff on either.

3m tape for me. Been on for 2 1/2 years no issue. I bought a cheap eBay one. I’m still ashamed but it still looks good.

The 3M tape works more than fine for multiple years in any climate as I've seen. Audi loves saying your need their adhesion packages which for almost all stick on body parts is unneeded.

    Cheers,
While I think the 3m tape would be fine for the carbon fiber lip, and is probably fine for the majority of stick on body parts, my concern about the carbon fiber lip is the overall poor fitment that has been reported. For this reason, I worry that 3m tape would lead to the same problems that caused me to abandon the aftermarket (RW Carbon) cf lip I attempted to install in the past. Without the strong adhesion to hold in the areas where fitment is not perfect (and 3m tape would otherwise not be strong enough) the overall fitment won't be great and the resulting gaps less than ideal.

TL;DR, strong adhesive needed to install the OEM CF lip and make it look perfect versus 3m tape which is fine for pretty much everything else.
