    Thinking about buying an eTron

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi, I have an A5, have owned many Audi’s, BMW’s (including i3).

So these dealerships have 15-20 of the 2019 eTrons sitting there. Anyone with any insight into the sort of deal I could push for?

And this tax credit, is that off the deal or I have to get it back via my tax return?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

One, simple, unexpected reply and my current car buying voyage is immediately tossed into chaos, hahaha.

    Ok, I’ve regrouped.

If they haven’t been able to sell them for the year and half that they’ve had them, doesn’t it stand to reason that they’re going to have to succumb to the premise of supply/demand and lower the price?

    For like, 15 of them?

...though they're awesome. Had them as loaners. Fast, composed, just like an (real) Audi...but electric.

Stupid lease deals on Premium Plus models in CA right now if you have a Costco membership + loyalty.

Attempting to get one myself since the monthly payment & gas savings makes the cost ownership more than economical. Further incentives included in the deal are 1,000 kWh of free energy credits for Electrify America charging stations, and a potential rebate (mines up to $1k) from your electricity provider depending on where you live (must lease car for 30> months).

Best deals I've seen are on $75k MSRP models with:
    - 24 month leases
    - 7.5k-12k miles per year (15k and 36 months have messed the deal up)
    - $3k DAS
    - $4k MSD's

    For 7.5k miles, I've been quoted $410-440/mon + tax (simply add $30/mon for 10k miles, $62 for 12k)

Wait till end of month/next if you'd prefer a Prestige (assuming you can get the deal as an AZ resident)

I'm in the middle of shopping e-Trons to replace the wife's 4L Q7 3.0t P+. We're looking at a 2019 Prestige, financed at 0% APR through AFS. The 2021s have been discounted, but that discount mainly impacts the Premium Plus models. Not sure there's a big difference in price on the Prestige, but either way, they are cheaper. I haven't seen any deals on the Sportback. A 2019 Prestige with the Cold Weather Package stickers at around $84k, depending on what other trinkets came with the car (overpriced USB and Apple cables at $110, "interior protection kit" aka rubber mats, etc). I offered $20k below MSRP and I am negotiating with at least 4 dealers that are close to meeting me on that price. They all appear to have gotten there in different ways, such as combination Costco Audi Sales Event (appears to be about 10% off MSRP), plus dealer market adjustment of some sort that in one case equaled about $8k off, plus Audi loyalty, etc. My best offer from a dealer right now is $65k before taxes/fees, or about $70k total.

I am also looking at a 2019 e-tron but I'm getting nowhere with the local dealership. They have almost 20 on their lot and they're claiming they're a restock from Audi because they've been such a popular seller. Ok, whatever helps you justify having a 3/4 of million dollars of unsellable inventory sitting there. I suppose the crazy lease deals and 0% APR for 72 months are also because these are such hot sellers

Take a 2020, less the $8,800 and then ask for additional discount as it's old metal sitting on their lot.

Also great lease deals from them right now starting at $424. per month. Costco Loyalty program has them and you can find the deals on lease hacker

Thanks for the heads up. I am inclined to wait until early next year, when these dealerships get way more desperate to get something with '2019' on it out of their inventory, especially with the 2021 coming with more usable range. CPO 2019 Prestige models with less than 5k miles are between $55k and $60k right now, so I see a huge drop in depreciation early next year.

Right on. No doubt that the supply/demand analysis will be impacted by the 2019’s being sold in Q1 2021. I made my move because wife’s SUV lease was ending, and didn’t want to deal with turn-in hassle and costs. So although my timeline was somewhat forced, I’m obviously happy about the deal and we are having fun with the new sled.

If NorCal inventory does get depleted as they get more aggressive, don’t hesitate to get across a border and ship it home. I know a great guy for shipping vehicles if of any interest at some point.

Very cool vehicle, though. I drove my A5 Prestige after being in the ETron and felt like I was slumming, haha.

Yeah, the lease on the S5 is up in February, but even then I won't be in a hurry. We have the 09 Avant and a 13 Impreza that show no signs of stopping anytime soon.

I just completed the deal I mentioned above. MSRP of $84.5k after the lidar credit. We got it for $65k before tax, tags, and fees. They wouldn’t sell me Audi Care for $500 so we skipped that. Total price out the door with tags, etc. was just over $68k.

    Thinking about buying an eTron

My understanding of pricing for next year isn't a reduction in price to current trim levels, but is the addition of a more stripped down Premium (not P+) trim level. I got my '19 in October of last year and got it for >than 15% off MSRP before tax credits/rebates then. Deals now have to be insane, to the point that I don't even want to know. It's a great car. I had some buyers remorse at one point, simply because it was so different than what I was coming out of (modded SQ5), but the car itself is pretty stellar IMO.

Would you be keeping the '16 SQ5 and adding the E-tron? I think that would be a great combo. The E-tron is a fantastic car. The tech is stellar (can be a bit glitchy, but not to the point of much frustration, at least for me), and it's an incredibly well thought out car. Is feels very refined. The B&O sound is absolutely stellar. Rolling acceleration is super fun, and very usable. It's nice to be able to stealthily get on it merging into traffic, etc., without having the car screaming. That said, it's a heavy car and it feels it. Luckily the low center of gravity due to the battery placement keeps it cornering relatively flat, but it's not the car that you want to hustle up a windy road. My '16 SQ5 had a lot of good mods, and just felt like a fast car. I missed that when I got the E-tron. I still miss that car a lot. The B9 SQ5 is my least favorite out of the 3. It doesn't feel as special and capable as the 16 did, but the tech and refinement falls short of the E-Tron. I'm not a fan of the B9 motor, and the B&O system in the B9 is a disaster. I thought the B&O in the B8 was quite good, though nothing like the E-tron. Maybe the most frustrating part about the E-Tron is that it's the ultimate highway car, yet I wouldn't dare take it on a road trip and try to deal with the hassle of finding charging stations and dealing with all that rigamarole just to get to my destination. This was kind of all over the place, but that's my take in a discombobulated nutshell. I'm happy to answer any other questions if you have them.

I love mine, the wheels you guys have put on yours look amazing. I also have a 2021 SQ5 I just picked up replacing my 2019 S4 that was tuned. The quality of the e-tron makes me forget all about the crazy speed of the APR S4

  24. #24
on my opinion you have to move to eTron cause this is the new technology having e-quattro all-wheel drive system, intelligent technology, advanced charging capabilities. so it better to move to new technology

There is a code it will give you and you can give that code to whatever dealership you'd like. OR you can search for 'new inventory,' to see if there is one in inventory anywhere near you.
