Anyone try the Raybestos DSG clutch packs?

I'm getting clutch slip on my DP S4. Looks like Audi sell complete clutch pack, but i was wondering if anyone has tried the Raybestos clutch pack? It would save $900, but I've researched online and couldn't find any reviews on them.

Looks like $180 for discs and plates. The quality doesnt look bad either.
New clutch kits, complete baskets start about $500 and go up to $5k.

I'll be doing mine over the winter but going with performance clutch kit for added durability and extra clutch discs.

Yes, they look good I just saw on eBay for the price you just said. The OEM replacement is $1400. So it would save $1220. I just don't want them to go out and have to have the work done twice. I'm dual pulley and will get autotechs and lpfp shortly.

I'm aiming for 3.5-3.6 pulley ratio, dual pulley can mean alot (APR DP is only 3.238) for example and I will be stepping up the stock clutches, stock clutches are for stock cars.
I agree price sucks but honestly I'd say find the best deal on some performance ones its your safest bet and they will live longer under the abuse.

I've put them in, need both steels and friction plates, seem to be okay. Are you sure you are not getting clutch slip because of the ecu tune not reporting torque to the trans correctly? Some stage 2 tunes overcome trans torque restrictions by reporting lower torque on the CAN. Which clutch is slipping, odd or even gears? How many miles do you have total and how many are with tunes? Depending on the mileage and other factors, steels/friction plates might not be enough. Can have worn clutch piston(s) or your front clutch cover bearing seat can be broken. If it's broken, the clutch will wobble slightly in the oil pump and you'll lose the oil pressure and slip anyway. Also, if your clutch drum is discolored from heat, you need a new one.

No it's not tune related. Audi mechanic looked at it.

Did he look at the car or the clutch itself? Imo, if you are having somebody do it for you, not worth the trouble skipping on complete clutch replacement. But do have them take a look at the dmf and front clutch cover, if the bearing for the input shaft has some play (slightly loose I should say) then replace that cover, too.

We share the dl501 with the S6 which makes more stock hp and tq, even more when tuned. These “stock clutches” can take abuse.

Half true. Stock s6/s7 clutch pn is different, and it has one more friction and steel plate in either odd or even packs or both, don't remember. But agree that stock clutch should take some abuse for some time.

Is there a DIY tutorial or how-to on replacing the clutch packs?

I'm having weird delays/slips in my upper gear shifts at WOT and want to be prepared. I've Googled a bit but haven't found anything too specific.

You can swap the whole clutch pack unit. That's the only way Audi sells it and ECS carries it, but you may have other problems. It's like $1450 though. After taking to a reputable local shop they recommended replacing other parts as well. There's a YouTube video from Raybestos though that shows them disassembling the clutch pack and then explaining replacing the clutches and steel plates.

If I did it, I'd likely want to upgrade the disks, but I guess a new OEM unit honestly wouldn't be bad, just more expensive. I'll have to look up that Raybestos video.
