Anyone got the audi akrapovic exhaust for the TTRS?
how is the sound compared to the other exhaust system that is available? Any drone?
i'm looking to get this thru my local audi with a slight discount compared to what is posted on the audi sites.

Was this made available in the US? When I had my 2018 TTRS, there were just a couple places that could import it and it was well over $5k to do so. No Audi dealerships could get it.

    Just wondering if that’s changed.

I think that you still need to source it from a third party and not directly from Audi USA.

I personally think the AWE switchpath sounds the best. Akrapovic has a higher pitched sound that doesn't sit well with me.

In first place I would love this Akrapovic exhaust system; I. Second place it would go to de HG Motorsport’s EGO exhaust system for sure.

i have the AWE switchpath, i love the sound of it but cruising on the highway is starting to annoy me a bit with the drone. thinking if AUDI offers this exhaust as a factory install, i would think the drone would be at a minimal.
higher pitch sound like what you would get from a N/A V10 would get?
i'm thinking if i can hear this in person vs all the online videos will make a difference.

Went with Milltek (https://www.millteksport.com/non-resonated-cat-back-exhaust-system-ssxau732mp.html ) which unlike the AWE system retains dual actuators and while the sound is great, no drone on the highway.

I have the Akrapovic. I love the sound, the inner maximised flow and the weight reduction.

Now we also build the middle part from titanium and with just one tube. All down in 3.5“ and from the middle silencer in 3“ to a bigger inlet of the Akrapovic for a maximum of flow and weight reduction. (More pics/soundfiles on Instagram)
We also added the IE downpipe and a lightweight Inconel Cat

It looks fantastic; I thought that the Akrapovic system came with the mid pipes as well. Do you have a picture of all these parts laying together on floor before installing them on the car? Thanks!

That looks like a great implementation, getting rid of the split centre section and updating the cat. I'm running IE downpipe + cat, do you have any spec of details on which HJS part you are running? I will probably do something similar so interested in options.

    It is this one
    https://www.turbozentrum.de/HJS-Moto...PS-bis-1600ccm

It has a special inner design with the PE foil for much more flow. Further it is made of Inconel 625 for reducing weight so much

Here's a good video on the exhaust. It's in German though. Starts at minute 10:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxZLHVsuwZg&t=860s

Tim’s funny, I have been looking that video for a couple of weeks and that made me decide on the Akrapovic catback. I don’t speak german. So in the part where they mention the downpipe I couldn’t understand which brand it is. I Also was wondering which material this downpipe is made of? Also I wondered if you use clamps to connect a titanium catback to a steel downpipe and/or it can even be weld both together with TIG.

It sucks that Akrapovic made a deal with Audi that the TTRS exhaust would only be available exclusively as Audi Performance Parts. I had an Akrapovic Evolution exhaust on my old S6. It was amazing!! What was even nicer was that all I had to do was place a call to TAG and make the order. It showed up a few days later. The build quality was amazing! I knew I wanted one for the TTRS when I go my 1st TTRS in 2018. Here I am over 2 years later from that purchase with my 2nd TTRS and still no exhaust available.

In this Video from JP the Downpipe is a TÜV version of a steel downpipe from HJS with a Cat in oe position.

Only the rear silencer is made of titanium. The part which connects it with a SECA clamp is normal steel. You cannot weld ti and steel together.
That ist why we build the middle part also from ti how you can see in my pictures.

    Are there more questions?

Thank you so much! Those where my thoughts (there’s no way to TIG weld Titanium with steel. Also what I noticed about the Akrapovic midpipe section was that it has sections where apparently there isn’t the new air flow.

the middle section is the same like the sport exhaust from factory

There where two options: normal and sport
The difference is that the sport has black tips and shorter middle silencers, the rest is the same

The Akrapovic has the middle section from the sport AND a rear silencer made from titanium with a much much better - I will say pefect - inner flow

Yes, you’re right, the final titanium section of the Akrapovic exhaust looks top quality. The tube section with apparent restriction may be seen on the left lower corner of the image at minute 13:54 of this video (there’s a kind of a vent).

I "need" a louder throaty exhaust on my 2018. I am used to my R8+ where you hear the engine and on the TTRS i really don't (much anyway).

I have my stock downpipe gutted and the 2nd cats removed. I still want more. This 2.5 runs great and sounds mean but its just to quite. However i dont want to sink the money into a new system at this time.

So I just had the Akrapovic exhaust installed on my 2019 TT RS. Sounds Awesome. I was able to get a pretty good discount on the price and the install took a half a day.

I have found a video online that compares the regular sport exhaust to the Akrapovic titanium exhaust here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYcu5kKGnlI

The titanium exhaust definitely sounds a lot meaner than stock sport exhaust, and on the highway I haven't noticed any drone or annoying noises that would drive me nuts.

That's a really great video to showcase the difference. The Audi Sport Performance exhausts are titanium rear mufflers with cast titanium valves. Here's a video with many of the Audi Sport Performance items in one video:

Audi in Europe oddly decided to end of life these parts and then drop them remaining parts in the US for sale. So some of the parts are readily available and others will disappear:

If anyone has any questions on these items please don't hesitate to let me know as I've gotten most of these out to customers, PM/email: [email protected]

The hood is unfortunately looking as if it's gone for good. The carbon fiber cross strut package is still around for now and not sure if the customer that just got one delivered is here, but can't wait to see photos of it installed.

I see quite a bit of people mentioning lighter weight. When suggesting an alternative can you please share the weight savings?

    akrapovic exhaust (TTRS)

I do quite enjoy this exhaust , after it was replaced the first time because the baffling internally had an issue from the factory and was warrantied out with a replacement

Weight savings Is there , at least when picking it up it felt paper light vs the stock exhaust ( I don’t have any muscle mass nor eyeball figures for ya though)

I just installed mine with IE downpipe.

    Thought:

1: Somehow the wastegate rattle noise is not as obvious (the metal click sound)

2: When Valve closed, the sound is really full inside cabin (not loud). When IE DP paired with Audi Sports exhaust you get some halo feeling.

3: When valve open the overall sound spectrum is much more complete and full body. Video on Youtube demonstrate this pretty well.

4: High rev is very nice, not too crazy but I was hoping more high-pitch screaming.

Overall this exhaust make the sound much more energetic yet, keeping it refined and elegant. Sounds contradicting but Akrapovic is doing a great job.

These exhausts are disappearing and funny enough now that they are almost gone everyone wants to get one. Super popular in Asian countries it seems as well lately. It's a nice exhaust and can't argue with the Akrapovic muffler make some great sounds and dropping the rear weight a few lbs. A few left:

I have to say as a European. I am thoroughly disappointed how TT MK3 was handled by the: media (very little coverage in news, reviews and even in video games), high end tuning companies who either never bothered to make aftermarket parts for it or just now starting to at the end of its life cycle).

Something as simple as chose your car from the list on many companies websites, just gives you up to MK2, or even Mk3 (except the engine choices and pictures clearly show MK2). This really is going to be a "forgotten model" like RCZ Peugeot :(

I live in Slovenia close to the Akrapovic manufacturer. I asked quite a few times why they never bothered to make any MK3 stuff. They told me that the demand was non existent and very few people actually have this car...bla bla..only 2 years after to offer their exhaust via AUDI SPORT brand (Which Audi marketing team should be ashamed how very little it was advertised. Even to hardcore forum jockeys such as us!)

In America the Audi TT RS is highly modified by IROZ MotorSports.

Akrapovic never sold their Audi TT RS’ exhaust directly since they had a contract with Audi as you say to sell it as an Audi Performance Parts / Audi Sport item.

But you’re right, I was in close contact with Remus, who never sold a special exhaust made for the TT RS. They even had a prototype that they took to Wörthersee (I do know it’s a VW GTI even and non an Audi one) but never release it to the market.

I missed to buy some of the OEM Audi Performance Parts bits and now it’s hard to do so.

BeTTo RS I see! And you are right. I also looked up REMUS and was disappointed to see they offer nothing for it. Many aftermarket manufacturers act like this model is a bad repressed memory. Many even today dont have them in the car select drop down lists.
ABT is no better in terms of things you can buy for the TT. They dont advertise it anywhere but they can sell you a completely alcantara covered steering wheel with TTRS Audi Drive button functional on it. You just had to ask them via email! No ads on it no brochures!

I am not a "tune" guy. Quite the opposite. Im more of "keep it stock" person. But a lot of things such as: car battery, oil, filters...stuff I wanted to buy on my own. Can still be a pain in the butt because the car sometimes is not present.

Even if you go to AUDI ZUBEHOR (accessories). The least amount of OEM stuff you can buy are for MK3 TT. I lived in several countries around Europe: Austria, Germany, Slovenia & Italy. Cant remember a single billboard or an ad regarding TT from 2014 - 2021. Hell even some Audi mechanics are confused when you drive up to them with the TT.
