    Intercooler pipe size chart

I been seeing it brought up how the RS4 intake bits don't really do much for the butt Dyno. Then I started to think about intercooler pipes and how I never really thought about the sizing, I just concentrated on the build quality and fit and finish mostly. So I looked up a cfm/size chart and I was quite surprised how much they can really flow.

The link I got the chart from...

That's some good info right there. A friend of mine wants to do a custom intercooler and they're concentrating on 'looks and size' while I'm throwing in the math aspects.

If someone actually wants the calculations done on what size intercooler pipe to use, I can do that for them. I design HVAC systems for high rise buildings for a living. I use airflow models all day. My first set up on my car was dual 2” inlet to single 3” outlet for my intercooler. It’s a bit harder to do without a compressor map.

Thanks for posting this. Interesting info. I kept wondering if the smaller (1.75”) turbo to intercooler pipes on my FMIC would cause a restriction. But according to that chart i wont see restriction problems until 600~ hp.
