help removing air freshener smell from car, already tried ozone, vinegar, baking soda

Having the hardest time to get rid of the air freshener smell out of a car i just purchased.

They had an air freshener in the center armrest area and also in the driver door pocket.

I have used an ozone machine, didnt take any smell away. Have tried to steam it out with a steamer. Have tried to spray with iso propyl alcohol. Have tried to spray with vinegar. Have used baking soda letting it sit also with vinegar.

Any other ideas what to do? i cant smell any other part of the car that has air freshener, the arm rest and the door pocket are super strong smelling. I dont want to mask the smell with some other fragrance, want to get rid of it.

    Thanks!

As a last resort, I would fill those areas with whole coffee beans. You'll be surprised how much odor they absorb. Hope you like the smell of coffee...

ha, well i hate coffee, so that wont work for me either. Yea this one is kicking my a$$, not sure what to do. I have never had such a hard time removing a smell before. My other cars previous owner had worn perfumes and i was able to get those out fairly easy. Its like this Audi plastic sucked all the sent in and embedded it. The center console is lined with like a felt, that seemed to get the sent out, but the plastic still has a majority of it in there.

change the air filter but before you put a new on in there, cycle through the ozone for another 2hr run. It's important when you ozone a vehicle that the machine stay OUTSIDE the car or it won't ever reach peak Shock levels to kill the odors. Ozone machines need fresh O2 to product O3 or else it will plateau way too early.

Crude example but it's a set up that works. I've since trimmed the old couch cushion :)

When u do this method, does the car have to be running for 2hrs too? Well I would assume so.

    .
Not the full 2hrs. I usually let it run for 30 minutes or so. The reason the door is up in this pic is I have an exhaust hose attached and running out of the interior of the garage.

So I came across this product on fpc euro. It's not cheap. Maybe u can buy your own pump. But liquid moly sells the ac cleaner that goes with this hand held pump.
    https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/air...ui-moly-lm4090

Or you can try this product as well. You will need to drill a hole some where around your ac blower.

I myself might want to go with the product from liquid moly. But spray cleaner is way over priced. I wonder if u can use a off brand sprayer for much less.

    Heres another option.

Well gave this a shot, have the car connected to a battery charger with the ac fans on high. Forgot at first to press the recirc button.

Well, it seemed to work, but i drove the car after and when i parked it, the smell came back! I had the fans running in the cabin also. This was some crazy air freshener they used! It was my friends car, so he wasnt trying to mask anything, just liked the smell of it. Me on the other hand is way too much sent for me. Giving it one last shot today, have the car outside with it running now fan on full blast. Will let this go for a few hours.

The sent is like embedded in the plastic on the door panel, i may just land up buying another door panel, lol.
