Need to replace the brake Pad wear sensor?

    Hi,

My 2016 RS7 has only 12K miles on it, but I am replacing the original brake pads with EDC RedStuff pads to try to reduce the brake squeaking. Do I still need to replace the wear sensor, even though the original pads are not that worn down?

    Thanks,

    Joe

The cheapout fella in me says no....since they haven't touched and broken by the disc so normally they should be fine.
But if you want to be save, you can put new ones on them.
Might want to check if they not already come with new sensors (like OEM rears sensors are included normally).

you only need to replace the sensor if it has worn down and activated the light on the dash.

I also replaced my RS7 pads at early mileage to reduce squeal, never changed the sensor. never had a problem.

FWIW the plastic part of the sensor can become very brittle due to heat and break while removing. So be careful or you may want to prepare for that eventuality.
Aftermarket ones are relatively cheap compared to OE.

You can re-use if you can remove without damage. If you need to replace it then go to O'Reileys, Advance, or Autozone and get an aftermarket for about $10 - $15. Dealer prices are very salty for this piece.
