    AC low pressure valve leak?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just got my ac system diagnosed the other day they said it was leaking from the low pressure valve. Two other customers who were also getting it checked had the same diagnosis O.o has anyone replaced it before and is it the small or big size valve stem that's in the b7 a4. Any help is appreciated!

The larger pipe is the low pressure side, IIRC.

Ah okay I've already ordered a mastercool set that will maintain pressure while replacing the stems. Ty for the comments.

I purchased since generic Schrader valve stems. I'll see if they fit. And apologies should've posted pics to start with. 1594437481564.jpeg1594437497921.jpeg

Still not sure how you can maintain pressure when repairing the valve

The tool is pretty cool it clips into either port and seals it. Inside theres a suspended valve tool that can remove the valve under pressure. Then you pull it out past a valve in the tool and seal the valve, before unscrewing the butt end which brings out the valve core. Some videos of it will illustrate the idea much better it'll be very interesting to see if it works or not.

That is cool... kind of putting an air lock on your line and using tools within the air lock for the operation.

an other leak point is the pressure sensor, it a common issue on audi .

you need to replace the valve if this is the issue. it leaks through the connectors.

Okay so bad news, the connector is too small to fit over the valve core. Have to get the larger size tool and replacement plugs

I doubt Canadian Tire checked the pressure sensors specifically, but they went through the entire AC systems and found no leaks coming from anywhere else. If after I replace what they diagnosed and there's still a leak, I'll look into this one. Thanks for letting me know I had no idea!

Bad news! The tool is too thick. It butts up against the valve cylinder and doesn't reach the valve core. I have access to a machine shop where I will attempt to reduce the diameter to get it to fit, but for those who don't, I have no idea guys sorry.
I'll keep updating this as I get further but progress is slow, had a mishap with the shipping.

Reviving this thread. A hot summer is coming, here's what happened with the valve core.
I tried to use the tool that maintains pressure while removing the core, but the either the threads on the core, or on port were damaged and the core wouldn't come out. It would thread out a bit, but then bind.

Pulled the core out by forcing it to turn using a pipe wrench. So once it was out I needed to look for the right sized core. I've attached an image of the rough measurements, but amazon showed the dimensions of a core that looks the most similar. It'll take a month to get here, but afterwards hopefully it'll be the last time I'll need to do this.

    Thanks for reading!IMG_20210516_113650.jpgIMG_20210516_113833.jpgIMG_20210516_113944.jpgScreenshot_20210517_083115.jpg

Reminds me when I was having a/c problems with my allroad a few years ago. Took it to the shop and they went to remove the pressure sensor, and it wound up breaking off a chunk of the condenser and flying across the shop. Thankfully no one hurt. Needed new condenser, sadly
