B8.5 rotor size and pad replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey everyone, I am looking to upgrade my rotors and was wondering if anyone knew what the OEM front and rear rotor sizes are on a 2016 A4? I am thinking about going with some drilled and slotted stoptech rotors while keeping the OEM brakes but upgrading the pads to ceramic. I was also wondering if anyone had any recommendations for quality ceramic brake pads?

Akebono ceramic is really the best choice for pads. Tried and true

Sweet do you know the widths? Currently running a tight fit with spacers so want to make sure my wheel setup will still work

I'll definitely look into these. Getting tired of constantly cleaning excessive brake dust off my wheels...

Have years of experience with Akebono's, I notice no loss in braking, and the wheels are cleaner for 90% longer. Its a no-brainer.
Bonus - Clean your wheels, ceramic coat them, and you'll never need to even scrub them, water pressure gets everything off alone.

I'm at the stage of doing the brake job on all 4 corners. I have 78k miles on my 2013 B8.5 2.0T quattro MT6, and this is the first brake job since new.

I've read good things about the akebono euro ceramic pads, I have those in my basket ready to checkout, but I need rotors too. I have not seen a lot of recommendations for rotors for some reason, and there are lots of varieties. I generally steer clear of drilled rotors, I've heard of some cracking issues - but maybe that is a thing of the past. I do like slotted rotors for degassing. Are there any recommendations on specific rotors, preferably a set of 4?

There are some weird anomalies from suppliers, for example EBC has a set of V slotted front rotors for $161 front, but the matching rear rotors are $260. The rear are smaller, so why are they more money? Some of the PowerStop rotors are the opposite, the rear is $80-$90 cheaper than front, but most PowerStop rotors are drilled, so I'm hesitant to go that route. I've also seen a few complete packages with rotors and pads, but not the akebono pads, which I would really like to try.

My A4 is just a daily driver, commuting car, I'm not doing any racing or any high performance driving, so I'm sure another OEM plain rotor would be fine too... lol. But since I'm at it I may as well spend a little more for a slotted set as long as they are reliable.

    Any suggestions?

I am looking for rotor suggestion for my S4 and came across this thread. I have seen some old posts on Brake Performance rotors but have not seen any lately, https://brakeperformance.com/ I am seriously considering these or the drilled Zimmermans.

I would love to get the Akebonos but I have black wheels so not sure if they produce light colored dust.

I second that with the ceramic coating the wheels and ceramic pads. I even went as far as to clay bar the inside and out and then ceramic coat them....super easy to clean and ceramic pads are a game changer for dust....
