Prices for 2019/2020 RS3 during the pandemic

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I hope I can get some help from anyone who has looked into or has bought a RS3 fairly recently.

I know prices can vary for locations but I an located in NJ.

It does seem like there is an inventory issue so I feel like good deals are hard to come by. The best offer I've gotten on an RS3 is 6.5%. This is a 2020 model with an MSRP of around $64k. I qualify for loyalty so that helps another $1k. Is this considered a good deal by today's standards or even pre-covid? Of course many of the dealers I call around say this is a "RS" car and people are still paying MSRP for it, etc. Or that there is a shortage of these cars...

I think it would be great to get responses for people who are looking and have gotten offers or have bought recently to reflect today's prices but all data is good data. And please state the price BEFORE any incentives or taxes and fees etc, since obviously these can change from location and the date the car was bought.

I got 7% off my RS3 in 2018 when they were scarce. 10% now shouldn't be a problem.

I just purchased a fully loaded 2020 RS3. MSRP was 65499, I got it down to 59500. Rate was 4.4 and I put 6k down.

    Nice deal!

Can you let me know where you are located to get this deal? Also was the $59500 not including any incentives or tax/fees?

I think I could have gotten a better deal. I got another 1000 off from Audi returning customer and an extra 500 off because of some scratches in the lower driver side skirt. They'll buff out, but I made mention of it and I got an extra 500.

Total, taxes tags and everything out the door was 62,xxx and I financed 54,9xx.

    I live in Maryland.

Yeah I don't care too much about the Out the door price since everyone will pay a different tax rate, doc fees, etc. And it's great you got the extra $500 off but again something specific to your deal.

So if I'm doing the math right before the loyalty incentive you got almost exactly 9% off from the MSRP of $65499 correct? Did you have to shop around or negotiate hard to get that discount off of a 2020 model?

You can check Unhaggle to give you an idea of the dealer’s cost which is in theory the lowest price you could pay for the car assuming the dealer would sell it to you at 0% profit. Anything between the dealer’s cost and the MRSP can be negociated.

Unhaggle is a Canada only website I believe. If you try to put in any US zip code it does not work.

So can you guys let me know how this deal sounds?

I'm getting the absolutely lowest offer possible from this one deal for a 2019 with a sticker price of $65k and they are giving it to me for just under $55k. It's about 16% off. Has anyone seen much better deals for a 2019 car?

The best I'm seeing for a 2020 model is 7%.

I think the main issue around this time is inventory. Just not a ton to go around it seems. I've seen so many Nardo Edition cars get bought up almost instantly.

Best deal I've seen on a '19, though you haven't provided us a package breakdown. Sounds a pretty great deal if you ask me. Consensus is that 10% is the minimum off one should be looking for, for a leftover '19. 2019 and 2020 are the same feature wise so long as they are spec' d with the same packages. So I wouldn't factor in a 2020. If after trying its the absolute they'll go, I'd get it. As long as you're happy with the color combo and features. It's opportunity cost, time you spend haggling for say 20% (as someone mentioned they want to pick one up for) , someone could swoop in and buy it and you're out of luck. And at very least, it's less time spent driving the car.

So I just made a trip out to the dealer that had the 2020 Nardo Gray car. Took a test drive and tried to get them to give me a better price but they wouldn't budge past 7% at all.

I have the paperwork in my hand now to fill out for the 2019 model. This model is identical to the 2020 model except for the color.

Both dealers charge about $95 total in fees (doc fees, tire tax, etc). And then its just my tax and registration. So zero BS fees for both cars.

Including the Audi loyalty for both cars I'm at a 6k difference in price between the two. So I think the 2019 is the way to go.

I'm at $56500 out the door including everything on this 2019 model costing $65k. I think that's a pretty good deal.
As long as you like the exterior color and all the options you wanted are included in the 2019 with the discount they are giving you.I believe it's a no-brainer of getting that instead of getting the 2020. Identical cars. Welcome to the club, post pictures! At the rate things are going with the shipping the dealer *encouraged* me to use, I won't have mine delivered until....perhaps next year!!! So I'll just look at everyone else's.

Well actually I had a better deal on a 2019 (also identical to the two I'm looking at now) but that one was out of state and I had to ship.

This one local to me was not budging on their price for the 2019 for a while but when I talked to the sales manager I got the numbers down alot more with my pending deal. The deal overall is much better because I don't have to calculate in shipping and in Cali almost every dealer charges like $700 in stupid fees. For VIN etching and some lo jack type device thats installed.

None of this is really pandemic pricing...It's pricing for a model in it's last year of production before a refresh...a model that enthusiasts have been buying for a few years already....a model that while fun (I obviously like it, I bought one), hasn't won any huge awards..is far from a drivers car and has a more narrow niche of consumers out of any model.

Well you are not wrong. However, while it may not be pandemic pricing, I think it has to do with a small part of it. Because ports have been closed and basically we have had several months of no cars coming in/cars sitting on lots. This hurt any 2019 models from selling obviously and now because of that we are well into 2020 models and 2021 around the corner.

What I can also say is that the used RS3 market is still pretty good. I actually tried to buy a used 2019 from someone (very close to the price I paid for my new one) and it actually sold right before I got to check it out. I test drove an RS3 at my local dealer and that model sold within that week. I called around to a few other dealers and they told me the car I asked about was sold as well.

I agree it's a pretty niche car just like my MK7 Golf R I owned previously. But it also helps to not depreciate severely either.

NEW 2020 "Nardo Edition" $60,895 MSRP, about 2K less than the car priced out with the exact same options (~$63K). Only "problem" is it has the fixed suspension. Driving it for 5 weeks now I'd say it's a non-issue. Rides just fine for everyday driving.

    $55K before taxes, tags, etc.

Nice deals guys. So many Nardo now a days the color doesn't seem as special. Glad I got a different one for future value.

The RS3 is a niche car and in the vast scheme of things rather rare. Right now Autotrader is lousy with 2020 Nardo Editions.

But even with all the Nardos out there you're still not likely to see either a Nardo, OR even another RS3, running around your neighborhood anytime soon.

And assuming you're not going to get rid of it in a month or 2 by the time you do the market will have normalized and Nardo will be just another available color.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

A base model not having tech package would be the only RS3 that would hurt resale value imho. Not so much the color.

Apples to oranges but I was offered 9% a new 2019 TT RS, sticker price was $77,490. I didn't haggle much to get that offer from them. Found the same spec, used with 1,700 miles on it, for 19% off sticker.

Has anyone else seen the white 2019 RS3 for sale in Illinois? New for $55,800. I contacted the dealership asking what the MSRP is on the sticker and they said they do not have access to the MSPR and do not have the sticker because they are an Infinity dealership. They said that they tried calling Audi and Audi would not provide it to them. I pulled the CarFax and the car came from Canada and is still new. Everything just seems fishy to me. How can you sell a new car without knowing the MSRP? How can you negotiate on it? And this might be just me, but if i'm buying a new car, I want the window sticker to provide truth to who I am reselling the car to down the road.

New car being sold by another automaker that isn't under the same umbrella (VW/Audi/Porsche, etc)? Never heard of that before. They list the miles on it? I came across a Chicago Audi dealer that had a "New" Glacier White RS 3 for sale but with ~5K miles as it was used a a company car. At first they were asking for MSRP and didn't initially disclose the mileage. Didn't like that. You willing to share link? I didn't see it after a quick search.

I verified with them that the car has had no previous owners. 118 miles. Doesn't make sense to me.

Oooo. I remember this car.On their Car Fax, says the vehicle was "Sold" on 03/09/2020. And then sold again as "dealer" vehicle 06/01/2020. No accidents/damage though.

Looking at it, has the Technology Package, Dynamic Package, and B/O. No drivers package (which I wanted when I first came across the car, and passed it over). It *seems* like a potential steal for their asking. Or even if you could ask for maybe lower. I'd contact Audi and ask them about the car. See if everything would be covered as it's supposed to as the listing for the car is "new".

it's always odd to me the different wheels on the canadian models vs here in the US. that car looks like it has black optics package but the wheels are not the same black optics wheels we have here.

Personally, I don't really see that as a steal. Per above, people are getting US spec'd 2020 RS3's at 55k. This dealer, knowingly or not, is up to some sketchy stuff here. At no point is it advertised as a Canadian imported vehicle, which we all know they're well aware of. Not only that, but in Canada the average on 2020 (so even newer) RS3's per Unhaggle is 65k CAD or 44k USD. With that in mind, they're significantly above what the standard market it comes from pays for it. None the less the not disclosing the Canadian origin alone would be offsetting for me.

Honestly you're right. I wrote that while half asleep. When I first came across the car in my initial search, I didn't realize it came from Canada. Didn't do that much digging when I first found it. And you're right, them not openly disclosing that is questionable and would make me hesitate buying it.

I agree. After I thanked the sales rep for their time and said I am not interested due to multiple factors, mostly being that they can't tell me the MSRP of the car they're selling, they said that I shouldn't miss out on a car simply due to that. I beg to differ.

I just took delivery of my 2019 Mythos Black RS3 yesterday.

And just like the dealer promised there was only $95 in total fees. Then my state tax and reg. Rate was 1.99 from Audi financial which was lower compared to the 2020 RS3 as well. Overall I'm very happy with the deal.

The dealer had my car out in front when I pulled in so it was nice seeing it there. Alot of people had already come up congratulating me on the purchase.

And as promised they had not touched the car since we started out deal since I would do the detail myself. And honestly it doesn't look like there are almost any swirls in the paint which is great. Also it never had a front plate attached and they didn't as requested. And 50 miles on the odometer.

The dealer even completed an oil change prior to me picking it up on their own dime. And my sales guys even found an OEM Audi iphone cable for me to use on my drive back home since the car didn't come with one and I completely forgot to bring a cable with me. The Audi cable they gave me is nice because the lightening portion is actually angled 90 degrees. The wireless charging cubby is not large actually so with the 90 degree angle of the cable my iphone just fit in there. With the apple cable it wouldn't.

Now I need to spend this weekend detailing the car!

Congrats on the car OP! But as is tradition, where are the pictures???? I'm still waiting on mine, so I must see other people's RS 3s haha.

Why did they change the oil? Car hadn't been driven nearly enough to warrant it with only 50 miles on the dash. And oil doesn't degrade nearly as quickly as gas left standing in a tank does from my understanding.

I didn't post a picture because the car is not clean since I have not detailed it yet and told them not to touch the car lol. I'll post one up soon!

I asked them if they could change the oil. I guess I felt better that way. Since I wasn't sure how long the car could have been on the lot for. They covered the cost so I guess it wouldn't hurt. They actually printed out the actual service record for stating they did the oil change and the service department billed the sales department.
