iPhone ringer volume maxes out when placed onto wireless charging pad

And if not evident/implied, I wish it didn’t.

Yet another first world problem, I would prefer it if my iPhone ringer volume would not automatically MAX OUT whenever I set it down in my ride.

I’m paying good (fake) money to anyone with the solution.

Same problem when I plug my iphone in as I don't have the charging pad. I've found no solution and very few complaints. One thread in a Q7 forum. I would think it would drive people nuts. Phone startles me all of the time at max volume.

As a former Marblehead resident, I’m happy to have your company with this silliness.

And just to clarify, are you saying that your 2019 RS5 does not have a wireless charging pad? Am I drawing an incorrect conclusion from your post?

Anyway, if we don’t get a solution to this very important, global issue, I shall call Audi tech support.

Yes, same issue, and I physically plug in and use Car Play.

I’ve posted on some Apple forums and even submitted bug reports to Apple and no one has a solution and Apple hasn’t acknowledged the report.

I had this issue in my sq5. When I connected to carplay it would max out my volume. I asked my sales guy about this and he told me sometime when you have the phone connect to Bluetooth and CarPlay at the same time weird stuff like that can happen. I disconnected the Bluetooth and the issue has never returned.

Love Marblehead. You are correct. The line at the bottom of my option list has "delete audi phone box". While I would like the charging pad, it does leave more space in my tool kit area in my trunk. I can actually fit the tools near the jack where others have a bundle of tools loose in the hatch area. Apparently in cars with the charging pad, there are some electronics near jack storage area. Anyway....just random facts for the day.

Interesting, I have a similar issue whenever I drive my parents' TTRS, however I only connect via Bluetooth. As long as I don't touch my phone while it's connected to the car, I don't have any issues, but the second I unlock my phone while it's connected, it will max out my ringer volume. It's super annoying if I forget to turn down the volume after, as I normally only have it around 25%, so it scares the crap out of me.

It’s either on Apple or Audi at this point...I suspect neither actually care.

I removed the Bluetooth connection between my iPhone and car to see if that theory holds up. I’m only driving about once a week now so hard to get quick data but I’ll post my findings soon).

Audi isn't going to fix a bug like that, it would come from Apple. I'm on beta 14, let me test if I have that same issue.

It seems to be rooted in using Bluetooth to connect, because I never had the problem when I used CarPlay via cord connection.

I just tried it and couldn't get the ringer to change on me. Can you reproduce the issue?

Hi Chavez, thank you. I moved out of Walnut Creek in March, so now I have two former neighbors in this thread, haha.

I place my iPhone XR in the wireless charging area of my 2019 A5.

I do not connect with the cord, and do not engage CarPlay.

The phone automatically connects via Bluetooth. I do not use the phone for any calls, maps, music, or texts. It’s just sitting on the charging pad.

When I set the phone down, the ringer was on 2-3. When I remove it (whether it be 3 minute or 30), the ringer on the phone is maxed out.

    Why, Chavez, WHY?!?
