You cant go wrong with either DWS or AS/3. My wife has had both on the SQ5 and theyre so close overall I wouldnt hesitate to buy whichever one was slightly less expensive at the time.

I'm a big Michelin fan on cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. I've had 2 years on the AS/3 in the Seattle area, including both lowland and mountain pass snow. The AS/3 is great in rain, but I was really unimpressed by it in even the tiniest bit of lowland snow. I wasn't expecting it to be a winter ice tire, but it was pretty pathetic. *sad trombone*

Anyone tried Continental pure contact LS. ? got good ratings on Tire Rack & consumer reports. The Michelin may not have good snow performance. See above post from Slack tide

My MPS4's are running out of life and I too am seriously considering all seasons. Where I live it almost never gets over 20C and rarely that much below zero, however, it is cold damp and somewhat frosty for 5 months of the year (or more). It snows anything from "not at all" to twice in a winter, with actual snow on the roads 1 or 2 days. Last year I ran the MPS4's all year and even had to travel in snow one day... not ideal.

I've been looking at the A/S3+ but I can't find them in the UK. Otherwise, there are the "cross climate plus" if I can find the right size which were supposedly summer tyres with "true" winter capabilities... they sound like all seasons to me but apparently are "game changers" hmm...

Echoing support for the DWS06. Had them on my Passat and loved them. Super quiet and good overall performance in all seasons in the Midwest - I'll be getting a set of them when it's time for tires on the S4.

Last two sets have been DWS for me and I recommend them to all. Buddy put two sets on two A4s and friend just put them on her Jetta wagon. Everyones happy with them.

Cross climate is not at all the same as a high performance all season tire like the A/S 3+. I would use cross climate as a winter tire and take them off when you want to drive more aggressively. I went from A/S 3+ to cross climate and it didnt take me long to realize there was a dramatic difference in handling.

I run Pirelli PZero All Season Plus tires on both my b6 a4 and my s4. They are great all around tires and very capable. They will grumble a bit until they warm up but it doesn't take long. What I love about the tire is it isn't biased in any one direction, they simply work and provide very neutral feedback along the way. As far as comfort, in 18/19" it's a bit tough to say. To be honest, I have never felt a tire be comfortable outside of a true touring car class offering. If you are open to options outside of your list I'd definitely take a look at these. I think they fit the characteristics of the car well.

I meant to add on the S4 the PZeros were installed by Audi under the old owner. 20k miles ago and they still look brand new. My b6 I installed them in 2017. Still look brand new. That's a great characteristic about the tire design when they updated that compound a few years ago. Unless you hammer them, they don't really wear excessively. Tire rack put the tires up against the top category sellers and their feedback is basically exactly what I experience. Performance on both cars is very similar. The S4 is heavier and obviously faster so things come at you faster, while my B6 is more nimble and has suspension mods. In both cases you get very linear performance. The sidewall is not chunky but not as soft as a Continental. It's a good balance of stiffness and a little comfort. I personally love chunky tires so that does annoy me a little to see it more curved than blocked, but they are good tires.

DWS 06 - best all around.
A/S 3+ - kind of noisy compared to other options

A great quiet tire would be the new Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate. That is supposed to be an awesome tire!

I had the DWS 06 on my B7 and they were good. Used them in the New England winters too. Id never go back to an all season tire though after having the Pilot Super Sports on my B8.5

Yes. Had these installed on my 2016 S4 6MT in March 2019 and couldn't be more pleased. Quiet, improved ride, and still does a very good job of holding the road. They track better than the OEM summer tires on roads with crowning. Excellent choice for this car.

I ran the DWS extreme contacts for a while on my B6 and thought they were good. Not sure if posted that earlier or not. I can't recall how comfortable they felt but did drive them without complaints. The soft sidewall and how Tire Rack describes them was accurate to me. One of the best with its own quirks against other leaders with their own quirks.

On the Pzeros what they say in reviews at Tire Rack is spot on that you have to have a bit of confidence if pushing the tire in the wet because your initial turn in and off throttle reactions from these tires feels disconnected at first. Almost as if you have a microsecond of slip, but you are not drifting or losing grip. I've found it's a quirk of the tread design/delivery of feedback to the driver.

This is a great little bit comparing the DWS 06 vs Pirelli Pzero All Season+.

Ive had the AS3+ on a few cars and have become a Michelin fan in general. No matter the tire model, they maintain their wet grip and ride comfort deeper into the tires life better than any other brand Ive tried.

I love the DWS 06's . I have purchased 5 sets between my B6 and B8 S4s and my daughters b8 A5.(2 sets were just DWS). They do have less stiff side walls than the Mchelins and are cheaper. Decent tread wear. Michelins have better dry weather performance but not as good traction in snow. But that is based on having at least 1./3 of the tread left. Once either tire wears more than that, the winter tire performance is not good at all. DWS becomes a DW tire.No one usually takes that into consideration.

Executive summary: A/S3+ got the overall best scores, both by objective benchmark data and consumer rating, but DWS06 did a bit better in light snow.

I went with the A/S3+ as I rarely see snow.

Yes it is a touring tire and a darned good one at that. It also does very well in the twisty handling department even though it is a touring tire. The final opinion is going to be based almost entirely upon where someone lives and what type of driving they tend to do, which is how it should be anyway.

Ive been running AS3s for a few years now and they work fantastic in the Midwest, where winter is mostly cold with occasional snowstorms but also can hit 70 is January. They do wear crazy fast in the summer time here though, days usually in the 90s. Am looking to get some dedicated summers and keep the AS3s for wintertime only

Many will be happy with them. Others wanting better performance will not.But it is a viable option with longer tread life than a DWS 06 or a Michelin A/S3+.I believe its cheaper as well?

I, for one, am actually happy with the tread wear Im getting out of the AS3+. Just checked the tread depth and I have ~6.5mm left after 17,500 miles out of an original 10mm. Assuming replacement at 2mm, the math says I should get 40,000 total life. Given the performance I get out of them, Id be happy with that.
